Robinhood Gold Card 3% Foreign Transaction Fee
Robinhood has made a negative change for for new cardholders. As of July 1, 2026, the Robinhood Gold Card now charges a 3% foreign transaction fee on purchases made in a foreign currency. The fee only applies to cards that are acquired on or after that date.
The good news, at least for now, is that existing Robinhood Gold Card holders will not be affected according to information provided by Robinhood support.
The credit card terms now state:
You may be charged a 3% foreign transaction fee if you transact in a foreign currency. If you transact in a foreign currency, the exchange rate is based on Visa’s exchange rate calculator. You can use Visa’s exchange rate calculator to estimate the exchange rate for your purchases. When you travel, there’s no need to provide a travel notice.
The Robinhood Gold Card launched with no foreign transaction fees, which made it an attractive option for travelers as a catch-all 3% cash back card. Fortunately, anyone who already has the Robinhood Gold Card should continue to enjoy no fees abroad.
We’ll see if that lasts.
