Maryland Police Rush to Stop Child with Covid from Boarding Flight

Maryland police made it just in time to stop a mother and son from boarding a flight in Baltimore, Maryland over the Thanksgiving. Authorities learned that the child had tested positive for the coronavirus and had to rush to get to them before the mother and son got on the plane.

The Wicomico County Health Department notified Maryland State Police of the positive test on Nov. 24. It also told them that the mother and the 9 year old boy were scheduled to depart from Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport to Puerto Rico.

Police were notified at 3PM and the flight was scheduled to depart at 4:15PM, Maryland State Police Sgt. Travis Nelson told USA Today. It took 15 minutes for the state police to obtain a legal isolation and quarantine order so that officers could stop the family from boarding the plane.

Airport police were able to find the family at Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport just 30 minutes before the flight was scheduled. They gave the son orders to isolate at home and told the mother to quarantine because of direct exposure to someone who had tested positive for the virus.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended against travel for Thanksgiving. The same recommendation is also in place for travel during Christmas and the upcoming holiday season.

  1. Wow, they should start doing this for the flu too.

In fact, I would support a ‘fit to fly’ idea, where you have to check with the authorities and show your papers before leaving the house.

We need people to take care of us, and government monitoring us is the best way to do this.

Better safe than sorry. Can you imagine if someone sick got on a plane???

It would be the end of the world.

    Stay safe everyone!
    Stay home, save lives!
Call the police before you fly, just to be sure.
