Samsung Now Has Its Own Credit Card
Apple launched the Apple Card back in 2019 and the credit card has been a big hit for Apple fans. Now Samsung is getting into the credit card business as well, for now only in South Korea.
Samsung has officially launched the ‘Samsung Pay Card’ in partnership with Mastercard. Samsung Pay Card is a credit card specially designed to provide more benefits to Samsung Pay users, and can only be applied through the Samsung Pay app and is issued as a physical card. The new card is a way for Samsung users to make payments even when they don’t have access to Samsung Pay on their phone.
This is a different product from the Samsung Money by SoFi that was announced earlier this year in the United States. That was a debit card and this new offering in South Korea is a credit card.
The Samsung Pay Card also provides up to 1.5% discounts when paying through Samsung Pay. Some online merchants offer an additional discount as high as 3%, the announcement notes. So this could be an interesting option if it ever arrives stateside.
As mentioned above, the card is only available in South Korea for now. There’s no word is a version of it might be launched in the United States, but seems like a plausible move considering that its main competitor has the Apple card.
