Chase Sapphire Preferred Refer A Friend

As I have written before, Chase runs referral promotions on their Freedom, Ink and Sapphire Preferred cards from time to time. While the recent Ink promotion ended, I just checked and the current Sapphire Preferred refer-a-friend promotion runs through 5/31/15. (It normally returns two or three times a year.)

The Referral Offer

As part of this offer, current Chase Sapphire Preferred cardholders can refer up to 10 friends and earn 5,000 points per referral up to a total of 50,000 points. While you will earn 5,000 per referral, your friend will receive the normal public offer of 40,000 points after 4k in spend.

No one loses. So this isn’t the best offer ever, but if you know someone who is going to apply anyway, you can earn 5,000 points while they get the same offer that is available anywhere.

Chase Sapphire Preferred Refer A Friend – How To

Here is how to use the Chase Sapphire Preferred Refer A Friend program:

The Chase Refer A Friend website.

2. Enter in your last name, zip code and the last four digits of your Chase Sapphire Preferred card number. If you are not eligible then you will see the following screen. If you are eligible to refer people then you will be whisked away to the magical referral screen.

This message indicates you aren’t currently eligible to refer a friend for the card information that you entered.

3. You are now on the refer a friend referral screen.  Enter in your friend’s first name, last name and email address.  Unfortunately it takes Chase about a week to send the email. Fortunately there is a quicker way. (See below.)

4. If you filled in your friend’s info, you will receive a confirmation that the emails will be sent.

Quick Tip: Share the offer on Twitter or Facebook so your friends can use the link right away. To get the Chase Sapphire Preferred refer a friend referral link, just click to share on Twitter or Facebook and then copy and paste the link from there into an email to your friend.

Conclusion

If you don’t currently have the Sapphire Preferred, feel free to read my review to find out why I think it has a great sign-up bonus, but limited use after the first year. If your friends use your link, make sure to show your thanks by showing them how to maximize their Ultimate Rewards points!

Here is my personal referral link in case anyone wants to apply, but any current cardholder should be able to refer you as well. Enjoy!

  1. Whenever I referred someone, it did show up about a week later indeed. I remember wondering what took so long…
But it showed up in the promotions tab from gmail.
    Maybe that helps.

  2. Gave up in referring friends to Chase. They have a stupid system that does not work. You have to use their webpage to send emails to friends but they never receive the emails. I called Chase and they said it takes 1 week for people to receive the emails (1 week??? Are they delivering the emails using the Postal Service??) but I referred over 6 friends and none of them ever received the emails. Chase said they may have a problem with Spam, blocked email, etc… Whatever, that could be the case for 1 person but not for 6. Never will refer a friend again to Chase.
