Senate Votes to Get Rid of Masks on Public Transportation

The Senate voted to pass a resolution on Tuesday to end the requirement to wear masks on public transportation as states are rolling back coronavirus rules and restrictions.

The Senate vote was 57-40 on favor of the resolution that would undo the extended federal regulation requiring masks on planes, trains, subways and other modes of public transportation.

While the vote could have some influence on whether the regulation will be extended after April 18, it will likely not do much to end it before then. Despite passing in the Senate, the resolution is likely to hit a wall in the House, and then face a likely veto in the White House.

Many mask mandates have been rescinded in states and schools across the nation as coronavirus cases have plummeted since the Omicron surge early in the year. The 7-day average is now at less than 32,000 new cases nationwide, a sharp drop from highs in January when it surged to more than 800,000.

The mask mandate has also resulted in a significant number of incidents on planes in the United States. The Federal Aviation Administration says since January 2021, there have been a record of 6,800 unruly passenger incidents reported. Around 70% of those involved masking rules, but there was a huge increase in non-mask related offences as well.

  1. Criminals love mask requirements. Facial recognition software doesn’t work, security footage becomes less effective and eyewitness cannot accurately ID perps.

Beards, gold teeth, scars etc. are hidden so criminals are much harder to identify.

But Democrats know this and they want criminals to go unpunished anyway.
