Air Canada Aeroplan Devaluation
Air Canada has quietly published an updated reward chart on its website, and yes, there’s a devaluation coming in a few months.
The carrier says that “as of June 1, 2026, we’re making a few changes to the number of points you may need to redeem for a reward.” These changes are mostly negative with prices jumping by as much as 67% in some cases.
Air Canada’s Aeroplan program uses a zone-based, and distance-based pricing model for awards. The world is divided into North America, Atlantic, Pacific and South America. Reward flights are priced based on which zones you’re travelling between and distance. The chart lists two figures for Air Canada and select partners. Award flights have a minimum price and a median, which is usually what you’ll end up paying.
So how are reward prices changing? Transatlantic business class flights up to 4,000 miles for example goes from 107,500 to 129,300 points. Longer Atlantic routes in the 6,001–8,000 mile range see partner fixed rates for business increase from 130,000 to 150,000 points.
There are similar increases in price for travel between North America to Pacific. The 7,501–11,000 mile band sees partner business class jump from 87,500 to 102,500 points. Economy on the longest Pacific flights (11,001+ miles) sees its starting price go from 65,000 to 70,000 points.
Travel between Atlantic and Pacific have the massive price hikes. Business class on the longest band of 7,001+ miles jumps from a 60,000-point starting price to 100,000 points, a 67% increase. Partner rates across all distance bands in this corridor also go up significantly.
If you have any redemptions in mind, make sure you check how pricing will change for your routes and book before June 1, 2026 to take advantage of the current chart. After that date, the new chart goes into effect. You can see full details and new charts here.
