If I am being honest, I have a love / hate relationship with Amazon Prime. I feel like they should have reduced rates or given credits when they were slow shipping everything a few months back but nothing ever came. However, I will say they are pretty good at giving discounts whenever shipments miss the guaranteed date. There is a lot to like about Amazon Prime, but it isn’t necessary for everyone. What Is Amazon Prime Day?
Amazon Prime day is a yearly sale that Amazon hosts for their Prime members. What started out as one day of deals has been extended to two days worth of deals. Usually Prime Day happens over the summer but with the pandemic it got pushed out into October. I actually prefer this time of the year more because it is perfect timing for the kick off to the Holiday shopping season. There is nothing as satisfying as getting a great deal, on the perfect present, without even having to leave the house.

Remember To Cancel The Free Trial
I will throw a word of caution about signing up for a free Amazon Prime trial. If you don’t cancel the membership by the end of the 30 day trial you will be billed $12.99 monthly. Set a reminder on your calendar at around 28 days so that you can make your decision on whether or not you want to keep the service. Then you can cancel it if you want before they start billing for it.
If you enjoy the service and want to keep it then it is a better deal to pay for the year upfront. It is $119 a year going this route, which is $36.88 cheaper than paying $12.99 every month.

Free Amazon Prime Trial – Final Thoughts
Even if you know that you will never use the benefits of Amazon Prime, like free 2 day shipping and their Prime Video selection, I would encourage you to sign up for the trial. Prime Day usually has a few deals worth the price of admission, especially when that price of admission is free. You can cancel your free trial on the 15th, the day after the Prime Day sales, if you so choose. There is no harm in a taking a look and doing a little “window shopping” 😉.
