If you read yesterday’s post then you know that today was another Six Flags day. We have our season passes so why not? This is probably the last Six Flags park we will hit before school gets out. When we go to Six Flags it tends to be pretty cheap as we eat before we get to the parks and don’t have to pay admission. In addition to all of that, the three of us really love roller coasters.
The original “plan” called for us to wake up at 8am so we would have plenty of time to get to the park by 10am when they opened. Of course the “plan” went out the window when we didn’t get out of bed until 9:30am. The last two days were long and they must have tired us out more than we thought. Most days we walk between 3-5 miles and when you combine that with 14 hours of constantly being on the “go”, it adds up pretty quickly. As tired as our bodies were, by 9:30am we were well rested and ready to go!
We finally arrived at Six Flags Over Georgia around 11am. Six Flags Over Georgia is the second of the three original Six Flags theme parks. They are celebrating “40 years of thrills” this year! When we first got into the park the first two roller coasters we walked by had long lines and we noticed at least 10 different rides were closed. I started to worry that this day wasn’t going to go very well.
One thing I have learned over the years is to start at the back of any theme park. Crowds tend to congregate at the front of the park in the morning since they tend to ride the first attraction they come across. We went straight to the back of the park and found that the lines were much shorter than the first couple of rides that we came across. Overall the lines today were very reasonable and the park wasn’t too crowded. I asked a cast member about where everyone was and turns out that today is the last day of school here in Atlanta so the park will get busy very soon. Without many lines, we managed to get on all 11 roller coasters and a couple of other small rides.
Six Flags Over Georgia is definetely not built for families. We found even less family rides than at the other Six Flags parks we have visited. Since Shawn Reece is now 48″ and can ride most of the coasters, this didn’t affect us very much. When we come across a roller coaster that he can’t ride, Jasmine and I switch off at the front of the line. As we progress through this trip it is becoming evident that Shawn Reece is turning into a coaster nut. At one point late in the day when Jasmine and I didn’t want to go on any more roller coasters, Shawn Reece decided that he was going to ride his favorite coaster, Ninja, by himself. At this point Jasmine and I agreed that we have created quite a monster.
Satisfied, we left the park at 6pm. Since we didn’t spend much money during the day, we decided that tonight was the perfect time to treat ourselves to a nice dinner. It has been a while since we have done that! We explored around the hotel and found a place called the Cherokee Cattle Company. I thought, “With a name like that how could we go wrong?” It turned out to be a Texas style roadhouse with excellent food! This is the first time in a few days that we have been done by 8pm and it feels good. We are going to get plenty of rest tonight before leaving for Nashville, Tennessee early tomorrow morning. Talk to you soon!
We want to thank everyone for the comments and emails. Your support is truly appreciated and keeps us going.

We did see the Grand Ole Opry building, but as you can see in the Nashville post everything was a little hit or miss in Nashville. Thanks for writing Phyllis. We appreciate your participation in our trip!!!
Jasmine, you are far braver than I was at your age. Roller coasters scare me to death. Good for Shawn Reece being the All American boy, nothing scares him. Nashville has the Grand Ole Opry, are you going to go? so much to see there if you are a Country music fan.
I am enjoying your trip immensely, Stay well, drive carefully.
Hugs, Phyllis
