Southwest’s Schedule Extended Through August 14, 2017
Southwest has certainly dominated the news this week with their policy change towards hotel transfers counting for a Companion Pass, their erroneous email falsely telling people they earned a Companion Pass and last night’s temporary reversal of course regarding hotel transfers.
Thankfully there is one more bit of good news. If you are planning a Southwest trip this year, you now have more dates to choose from. As of now the Southwest fare calendar has been opened up so you can book flights through August 14, 2017. This means that most Summer flights are bookable.
If you have plans beyond August 14 such as on Labor Day, then you don’t have to wait too long. On February 23, 2017 Southwest will once again extend their schedule through September 29. (Note: These dates are subject to change.) You can always track Southwest schedule extension dates by bookmarking this page. Ding!

Okay Shawn–here’s a question I’ve never seen answered before. I already have a companion pass through the end of 2017. But if I transfer points, I can extend through the end of 2018. My question is–does that mean I have TWO different companion passes (one expiring in 2017 and one expiring in 2018)? Or does that simply extend my existing companion pass to 2018? Thanks!
Just extends it through 2018
Only one per person so it is just extended. If you have a spouse or someone you always travel with, they could get the CP and it would be good for two years. You would then have yours through 2017 and they would have theirs through 2018.
