Southwest Premier Business Credit Card Bonus Timing
The Southwest® Rapid Rewards® Premier Business Credit Card has a welcome bonus of up to 120,000 points. This offer has been around for about a month now, but the reason we’re revisiting it again, is because of a minor change that can make a big difference.
The expiration date on the public offer is August 28, 2023. However, if you apply through referral links, you will see an expiration date of September 4, 2023. While it’s only a few extra days, it can make a difference. If you time your application just right and everything works out, you can have the Companion Pass for almost two full years with just one card.
The bonus requires you to spend $3,000 in the first three months to earn 60,000 points. And then you have nine months to spend a total of $15,000 to earn another 60,000 points. Once you’re done with the spending you will have enough points to earn the Companion Pass.
So if you apply on September 4th, you will have until December 3rd to complete the first part of the bonus. If your credit card statement date is on the 1st of each month, then all the points earned after December 1st, will post in January. So the key here is to complete your $3,000 in spend between December 1 and December 3rd. That way, you will have completed the spending within the first three months, but they points will post in January.
You can change the statement date on your Chase cards to the 1st of the month. And the final purchases between December 1 and December 3rd should be an instant purchase that won’t go pending for days. An in-store purchase is probably safer.
After that you can complete the rest of the $15,000 spending to get the full welcome bonus. The earlier the better so you can have almost two full years of Companion Pass.
