Southwest Airlines Extends Schedule & Announces New Routes & Introductory Fares
Southwest Airlines generally only opens up their calendar for booking 5-7 months out. Thankfully they have now extended their booking calendar through August 7, 2015. While it doesn’t cover all summer travel, at least it allows for some planning.
New Routes Launched & Introductory Fare Sale
Along with the extension of their schedule, Southwest announced  a number of new routes. For the following new domestic routes, Southwest is offering special pricing through December 22, 2014.
New nonstop service begins June 7, 2015, between:
Indianapolis and Los Angeles (LAX)Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â |
Once daily          |
as low as $139 one-way |
Los Angeles (LAX) and Portland, Ore.    |
Twice daily             |
as low as $69 one-way |
Oakland and Nashville            |
Once daily            |
as low as $149 one-way |

New nonstop service begins June 28, 2015, between:
Austin and Orange County/Santa Ana   |

In addition to the above mentioned domestic routes, Southwest announced and began selling tickets for a new flight from Orange County/Santa Ana to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and a seasonal Saturday only service from BWI to Los Cabos, Mexico.
They also will launch a new route from Baltimore to San Jose, Costa Rica in March and from Houston’s Hobby airport to Belize City in October. All of these routes are subject to government approvals.
Increased Seasonal Flights
With the summer schedule released, Southwest has also announced a number of seasonal flights beginning on June 7, 2015. The routes are as follows:

Conclusion
While these announcements are minor, it is good to see a new international city added, especially one on the West Coast. The schedule extension is nice as well and allows for some summer vacation planning!
