Southwest’s Schedule Extended Through April 11, 2016
Booking advanced reservations on Southwest can be difficult since the schedule is normally only available on average about 6 months out. Fortunately Southwest has announced that they are opening up their schedule through April 11, 2016. That means we have about 8 months of booking availability including some very important dates. (The schedule will open up at some point today, however I am not seeing it as of yet.)
Spring Break
With this new extension, most family’s should be able to book the flights needed for Spring Break. Remember Southwest will refund you the difference if the price drops, so it is generally good to get in early for flights during peak times like Spring Break. Unfortunately with Southwest’s new dynamic award pricing, flights may now cost more points than ever before.
Conclusion
Hopefully Southwest’s dynamic pricing won’t put a damper on your Spring Break plans, but I would expect flights to certain destinations (*cough Orlando) during March & April will cost a ton. I still think it is wise to book early and don’t forget to check regularly to see if the price drops so you can get a refund.
