Stacking RebatesMe Bonus & Amex Platinum Saks 5th Avenue Credit For Big Savings

I shared a pretty sweet offer with you a week or so ago for RebatesMe. We worked out a deal with them that got our readers the best offer possible, giving up some of our referral bonus to do it. Both myself and my wife signed up for it, couldn’t pass up the easy $40. We have a wedding to go to in a week so I decided to pair the offer with our Amex Platinum Saks credit for some big savings on some new threads. Here is how I did.

Stacking RebatesMe & Sak’s Amex Platinum Credit Results

Amex Platinum personal cardholders get $50 in Saks Fifth Avenue credit twice a year.  Once from January – June and another credit from July – December.  We had not used our credits since they reset in July so I decided to check out what they had to offer as options.

I also knew we had the RebatesMe promo that would pair up perfectly.  You can get a $40 sign up bonus when you earn $10 in cash back.  It really is that easy.

I did some searching and found a new dress shirt for myself and a couple of dress options for my wife.

My wife’s order was through Saks OFF 5th which technically is not supposed to work.  But if you shop online and pay through PayPal it ends up coding properly.  There was an increased rate of 4% for that store.  I purchased a shirt for $100 on the regular Saks 5th Avenue website which was at an increased rate of 6%.  I don’t think either of these paired with the increased first time purchase offer that new RebatesMe members get. For my RebatesMe account I was able to get 12% back at Macy’s as a first time account.

Crunching The Numbers

When you include tax this is how the numbers looked:

  • $262.35 purchase from the two stores
  • -$11.84 in cash back
  • -$40 RebatesMe sign up bonus
  • -$50 from wife’s Amex Platinum Saks Fifth Avenue Credit
  • -$50 from my Amex Platinum Saks Fifth Avenue Credit

Total Cost = $110.51 or a 58% savings!

Final Thoughts

Any time I can knock 58% off a purchase I needed to make anyway I am a happy man.  By stacking the increased RebatesMe sign up bonus with our Amex Platinum credits I was able to accomplish just that.  Dell is also on the RebatesMe portal if you have some Amex Business Platinum credits left to us.  You might as well get an additional $40 with your “free” Platinum credits.

Have you stacked the RebatesMe sign up bonus with any other deals? Let me know in the comments.
