Top 10 Posts of 2015
I have seen a number of bloggers write about their “Top 10” posts of 2015. While I wasn’t initially going to post mine, after looking at the results, I thought it was both a surprising and interesting list. It definitely shows the range of content I cover here. While some of you will hate the title, it isn’t clickbait if it is true. The #1 post really did surprise me and it shows how many people are looking to save money! Enjoy.
10. Act Fast – Amex Platinum 100K & Business Gold 75K Offer Available Now!
What a year this was for bonuses from American Express. While I didn’t really want/need more than one Platinum card, I was able to get this 100K bonus and a 150K offer on the Business Platinum. How could anyone turn that down?
9. Bank of America’s Free Museum Program Returns for 2015! Find Out Which Dates & What Museums!
Everyone likes free things right? It seems like demand for this post spiked around the beginning of every month as the first weekend drew nearer. Thankfully Bank of America renewed this program and I have a new version of this post for 2016 already up!
8. HOT! 60k Bonus Offer on Southwest Business Premier Credit Card- Highest Bonus Ever!
I was the first blog to cover this offer (I think) and that is mostly because my wife was directly targeted. The 60K bonus on this card lasted quite awhile, but it did indeed die. Thankfully I was able to get both this card and a personal card for an instant companion pass once the bonuses posted!
7. The American Express Blacklist Explained & Strategies For Removal
While most people who are in this hobby have perfect credit, everyone has made mistakes or had rough situations in their lives financially. American Express has been known to blacklist people who owe them money, but thankfully there is some hope for getting off of this list. This subject seems like one that is undercovered.
6. Getting Chase Rewards Cards with a Bankruptcy on your Credit Report
I won’t lie. After seeing how popular the “Blacklist” post was, I wrote this one to help people looking at applying for Chase cards. Chase outright asks if you have had a bankruptcy when applying. Sometimes answering that question in the wrong way can lead to an instant denial.
5. Walmart May Be Hardcoding Registers Against Gift Cards to Load Bluebird/Serve
This is one post that I’m glad was WRONG! Truthfully I receive messages nearly everyday that Walmart has stopped allowing loads from debit cards and I investigate and learn it is an error or something else. While some people were upset I wrote this post, I thought the information was credible enough to share. I don’t regret writing it and still feel a day when this is true will come.
4. Where To Buy Pin-Enabled Gift Cards for Manufactured Spend
This is just a general resource that I wrote to help people who are newer learn about the various places to purchase pin-enabled gift cards. With the landscape constantly changing, I have tried to keep it up to date since old opportunities die and new ones emerge all of the time.
3. Diversify Credit Pulls – Easily Find Out Which Bank Uses Which Agency In Your State
This topic becomes more important as you scale up credit card applications. Knowing which banks pull which bureaus is important information for many people. Luckily there is a resource that can help you find that information.
2. Open a Citigold Checking & Get 50K ThankYou Points or 50K AAdvantage Miles & Fund with a Credit Card! Huge Potential Value!
While most of the posts already mentioned were written earlier in the year and thus had time to amass more views, this one was only written in October, yet it shot up to #2. I am not surprised of course, because this was an amazing deal. I am still waiting for my 50K bonus miles, but I have also earned so much through the funding process.
1. How I Got Directv to Cut My Television Bill in Half!
This was far and away the most popular post of 2015. It was published in January of last year, which gave it plenty of time to dominate, but the subject matter is popular for many people. I do still believe this strategy will work, so it may be worth a read for some. Seeing this post at #1 was definitely surprising since it is sort of out of the realm of popular topics on this blog, although when you think of it, saving people money is definitely part of my mission here.
My Thoughts
After looking at that list, I am proud of the diversity contained within it. Of course, I do love to write about travel, but those posts don’t do nearly as well as the ones about credit cards, deals, saving money and of course manufactured spending. The great thing about this list (and the main reason I am writing this post) is that most of the information is still relevant and hopefully some of you will benefit from it.
I’ll try to keep the diversity of content in the new year, since I think it brings an amazing mix of readers to the blog! Thanks for making it a great year!
