United Award Sales
United may be throwing their members a huge curve ball with upcoming changes to their stopover rules and change fees, but perhaps they are trying to soften the blow a bit with some discounted redemptions. Right now they are taking 20% off economy redemptions and starting on August 11, some Asia awards will be up to 25% cheaper.
United Economy Sale
While this economy award sale isn’t officially an announced one, it seems to only work for advanced bookings and roundtrip tickets. Prices are as follows:
- Flights up to 700 miles: 8,000 miles each way
- Flights 700 miles or more: 10,000 miles each way
Both of these prices reflect a discount of 20% off of the normal prices. (10K and 12.5K) Here are some examples:
The nice things is these prices are live and you don’t have to do anything special. Simply perform a search for roundtrip tickets and if your flights qualify then you will see the decreased pricing.
United Asia Sale
In addition to this domestic sale, they will also be discounting awards to North and South Asia by as much as 25%. The discounts will be as follows:
- U.S. & Canada to North Asia for 52,224 roundtrip (Normally 70K)
- U.S. & Canada to South Asia for 62,224 roundtrip (Normally 80K)
This sale doesn’t begin until August 11 and for some reason the promotion page is not live yet. According to View from the Wing, the following terms apply:
- Book between August 11 and August 22
- Travel from August 29 through April 30
- Blackout dates are December 9 through February 3
- Roundtrip on United metal only
- Excludes Japan zone
For more information on these sales, see the View from the Wing post linked to above. Good stuff from United and American on the same day? Wow. 😉
