Universal Orlando Will Close Several Kids Attractions in Early 2023

Universal Studios in Florida has revealed that it will close several popular attractions geared toward young kids early next year. Theme parks often change things up in order to keep things fresh and exciting and to attract new customers.

Theme park officials revealed in a tweet that Fievel’s Playland, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes to Town, DreamWorks Destination and Shrek and Donkey’s Meet & Greet would permanently close on January 15, 2023. They will make way for “exciting new family entertainment… that will immerse guests in the adventures of beloved animated characters.” Details will be released in coming months.

Universal said the E.T. Adventure, Animal Actors on Location!, SpongeBob StorePants – including meet and greets with SpongeBob SquarePants and friends – and KidZone Pizza Company would remain open. There are also kids play areas in Seuss Landing, Toon Lagoon and Jurassic Park at neighboring Universal’s Islands of Adventure.

Universal Orlando announced last month that its Mardi Gras celebration would return to the theme park in Spring 2023 with a more international flair. Mardi Gras: International Flavors of Carnaval will run daily between February 4 and April 16, 2023.
