5 Ways to Save on Drinks at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar
My wife recently made a trip to the Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. I know a lot of people have been there since it opened a few years ago or have it on their list of places to go to in the near future. Even if you use points for the room you are going to be dropping some serious coin on food and drinks. That is why I wanted to share 5 ways to save on drinks at Grand Hyatt Baha Mar. Also be sure to check up my write up on 5 ways you could save money on food while staying at the property as well.

5 Ways to Save Money on Drinks At Baha Mar
Some of these ideas will work at any resort so keep them in mind for your next trip. The 5 ways to save money on drinks are as follows:
A Souvenir Cup & A Liquor Store
This one will work at any resort and most of you already know about it or have done it before. Either pack a souvenir cup or purchase one while you are in the Bahamas. Then on your way to the hotel have the cab driver stop by a liquor store on the way. You could also hit one if you take a Jitney (local bus) into town.
If you didn’t want to have to stop then fill up your liquids bag with mini bottles of alcohol. As long as they are below the recommended size you will be fine. Be sure to claim them when entering through customs as well.
You could also hit one of the liquor stores at the airport to save time if you wanted to. I would imagine the prices may be a little bit higher though.
Then put your favorite beverage in your souvenir cup on the way to the beach. Drinking a little bit of your coke before pouring in some rum etc. works fine too. Either way if don’t make it obvious then no one will care.
Get Lounge Access
This one made it on both the food and drink top 5 list! The lounge offers drinks in the evening for around 4 hours. So you can stop in there for a few drinks before heading to dinner or to the casino etc.
If you are not a Globalist you can always have a Globalist book you a Guest of Honor stay. Or you could use a lounge certificate if you have Explorist status.
Lastly you could book yourself into a room with lounge access. For an additional 7,000 points per night you can book a room with lounge access.
Head to Town for Drinks
Similar to heading to the Fish Fry to save money on food you can head to the bars in town for lower priced drinks. One place that gets great reviews and offers 4 Sands (local beer which is very good) and 4 shots for $20 is Tiki Bikini Hut. They have even offered all you can drink daily deals for around $30 in the past.
The Tiki Bikini Hut is located on the public beach just outside of downtown in between downtown and the Fish Fry. Remember that the Jitneys stop running around 6PM so best to go there during the day for lunch.
Head to the Daiquiri Shack
The Daiquiri Shack serves fresh fruit daiquiris (instead of machine processed fake daiquiris) and is located just outside the front of the hotel. It is surrounded by a couple of small shops and will cut your drink prices in half! Definitely worth the walk across the street!
Bill it to Your Room and Erase the Charge
The fifth and final way to reduce your drink costs is to bill it to your room and erase the charge off your credit card with your travel credits. If you have a card like the Capital One Venture card or the Barclay Arrival+ card then you can charge drinks, and food, to your room and use your points to credit the charge. The Capital One Venture card currently has a 60,000 point welcome offer that would cover $600 in food and drinks at the resort. Something worth signing up for to reduce your out of pocket cost!

#6 steal other peoples drinks when they are in the pool
Haha maybe pre covid 🙂
Is there a casino and if so any idea how it is on free drinks for players?
There is a casino and I think they do have free drinks (I know Atlantis does so I would assume they are the same).
How do you redeem the lounge access? Do you call Hyatt Res and add to your reservation or do you just wait and do it at checking?
I think you need to call Hyatt and have them attach the award to your reservation.
can’t wait!
Awesome – enjoy!
