Lounge Review – Admiral’s Club LAX Remote Terminal

Before my recent trip to Denver, I had plenty of time to spend in LAX Airport  waiting for my flight. While I spent most of my time walking the tunnels beneath the airport and working in the Admiral’s Club in Terminal 4 thanks to my Citi Executive AA card, I had a chance to experience the new Admiral’s Club in the AA Remote Terminal and I LOVED IT!

My flight from LAX-DEN was on US Airways Express which now operates out of the remote terminal. Since I didn’t know what to expect, I stayed mostly in Terminal 4 and ventured out to the remote terminal about an hour before my flight.

I remember reading about it, but I had forgotten that a new Admiral’s Club had opened in the AA remote terminal. When I walked in, I was immediately regretting all of the time that I spent at the main Admiral’s Club. The remote location is SO MUCH BETTER.

Let me begin with a caveat that it is a small club. According to the American Airlines website, it has a maximum capacity of 42 people. Remember though that the only people using this terminal are Admiral’s Club members who are flying on regional jets, meaning it is mostly empty.

The lounge itself features all of the amenities of its larger Terminal 4 brother. It has computer workstations, reading materials, Samsung Galaxy Tablets and plenty of comfortable seating with power outlets.

The Remote Admiral’s Club also has the same limited food options available in the normal club. It has trail mix and those oh so delicious white chocolate covered pretzels. In the evening the club also has a variety of cheeses, vegetables, crackers & dip. Fruit too for those who are so inclined.

Of course it is a U.S. airline club and thus has a bar with cheap drinks for free and the good stuff available for an extra charge.  If you only want a soda though, there is a self service machine available. That is great! No longer do you need to bother a bartender just to get a non-alcoholic drink! (They need to quickly roll this out to other clubs!)

I really loved everything about this lounge. The seating is comfortable, the food is as good as the normal Admiral’s Club at Terminal 4 and they have a soda machine. I have nothing to complain about.

If I have a long layover when flying AA, I may consider going out to the remote terminal just to use the lounge there instead of the normally crowded Admiral’s Club in Terminal 4. I liked it that much! Of course that bus ride out to the terminal is long, so I will have to think about it.
