Alliant 3% Cashback Available

A couple of weeks ago we covered Alliant Credit Union’s new “Best In Class” cashback card that earns 3% cashback the first year and 2.5% thereafter. At the time the card was only available to select members, however that has now changed. The company has reached out to let me know that the card is now available to all members nationwide!

Alliant’s New Visa Signature Credit Card Offers 3 Percent Cash Back
Alliant Credit Union Unveils Card Designed for High Spenders

Alliant Credit Union specifically designed its new best-in-class Visa Signature Credit Card for money-smart high spenders who want unparalleled cash back credit card rewards. The new Alliant Visa Signature Card offers 3 percent cash back on all purchases in the first year (and 2.5 percent cash back in subsequent years).

“Alliant’s consumer-focused mission is absolutely reflected in this new credit card,” said Michelle Goeppner, Alliant’s senior manager of credit product strategy. “We listened to feedback from high spenders and built this Visa Signature product to include the features and benefits that were most important to them. We’re certain they’ll agree that it’s an incredible value.”

Alliant developed the new credit card after extensive focus group research and surveys of high-transacting Alliant members and non-members.

An overwhelming 2 out of 3 those surveyed rated cash back No. 1 on their credit card wish list, and the Visa Signature Card delivers on that wish. For example, if cardholders spend $50,000 per year, they will earn $1,500 cash back in the first year and $1,250 each year thereafter.

Alliant’s research also found that security and travel-related benefits were important to high spenders. As a result, Alliant included Personal Identity Theft Protection – in addition to Visa’s $0 fraud liability guarantee – as well as smart travel perks like no foreign transaction fees, emergency card replacement, emergency cash disbursement, travel accident insurance and concierge services.

Goeppner pointed to Visa Signature’s simplicity as another of the card’s many advantages.

“You earn the same high cash-back rate on all purchases, taking the guesswork out of using this card,” Goeppner said. “There’s no need for cardholders to think about categories, tiers or caps. It’s straightforward, so members always know what they’re earning.”

Highlights of the Alliant Visa Signature Credit Card’s features include:
· 3 percent cash back on all purchases in the first year and 2.5 percent cash back on all purchases after that
· No limit on cash back
· $59 annual fee waived in the first year
· No foreign transaction fees
· Identity theft protection and travel insurance

    • I think this card will last a lot longer than that, they are banking on people keeping the card after year 1 which is when they will make their money. In year 2 and on, they are only giving you a half a percent more than the citi double cash but with the $59 annual fee, you would have to spend $11,900 before you start gaining anything over the citi double cash. Considering that most of us have other cards that we get more for certain categories (ink for office supplies, blue cash preferred for grocery shopping, discover with rotating categories, etc.) most people will not spend the $11,900 annually and even gain anything on this.
