American Airlines Boeing 737 MAX Cancellations
The Boeing 737 MAX has been grounded for nearly a month. This past week after a preliminary report about the Ethiopian Airlines crash came out, Boeing seemed to indicate it was going to take awhile for their fixes to be in place. Even then, one would think regulators will look at the plane with increased scrutiny before allowing it to fly again.
American Airlines has 24 Boeing 737 MAX jets in their possession and today they announced they will be cancelling about 90 flights per day that were supposed to be flown by this plane through June 5, 2019. These jets tend to be the least popular with American fliers because of the thin seats and lack of legroom, so perhaps everyone isn’t upset.
Here is what the airline has to say about the American Airlines Boeing 737 MAX Cancellations:
In an effort to provide more certainty and avoid last minute flight disruptions, American has extended cancellations through June 5. This will result in the cancellation of approximately 90 flights each day based on our current schedule. By proactively canceling these flights, we are able to provide better service to our customers with availability and rebooking options.
This American Airlines Boeing 737 MAX cancellations announcement comes after Southwest Airlines cancelled their 737 MAX flights through the end of May just this past week. You can find the full nnouncement along with frequently asked questions here.
