American Express Will Open an Exclusive Lounge in Midtown Manhattan

American Express will soon open a new type of lounge in New York City. This will be a luxurious and exclusive experience designed mainly for Amex Centurion cardmembers. But it’s possible to visit even with an American Express Platinum credit card.

American Express wouldn’t share any details with us about Centurion New York. But emails have gone out to current Centurion cardmembers.

Centurion New York is located on the 55th floor of One Vandebilt in Midtown Manhattan. The space will feature casual fine dining experiences curated by Michelin-starred chef Daniel Boulud. There’s also a chic bar serving signature cocktails and a salon where Centurion members can relax and unwind. Members can also enjoy perks such as access to private rooms, programming and events.

Centurion New York is expected to open in March and you can make a reservation starting February 9th. Platinum Concierge has informed some Platinum cardholders that two of the nine dining spaces will be accessible to Platinum members. Reservations are made through the Centurion portal or Platinum Concierge.

Here are some more details that were shared in the email:

Based in NYC. Points/miles enthusiast for years and actively writing about it for the last 6+ years at Danny the Deal Guru. I'm always looking out for deals. Making a few bucks is always nice, but the traveling is by far the best part of this business.

  1. Amex used to operate several Centurion lounges in Europe during the 80s. Not as elaborate as this one sounds to be, these were generally located above their travel offices (cash Amex travellers cheques, pick up mail), and offered comfortable relaxing over coffee/tea and light snacks. Recall visiting them in London, Paris and Brussels quite a bit.
