Amex Blue for Business 10K + 10X Offer Extended
Back in October American Express launched an increased bonus offer on their Blue for Business card. The offer was supposed to expire today, however American Express has extended it through 2/22/17.
As a reminder, the offer is as follows:
- 10,000 Membership Rewards® points after making your first purchase on the Card within your first 3 months of Card Membership.
- 10X points at U.S. restaurants for the first six months, on up to $2,000 in purchases.
- 2X points on all qualifying purchases on the first $50,000 for the first year. That’s an additional 1 point per dollar spent on purchases.
- 30% annual points bonus based on the past year’s purchases (making it 2.3X points on all qualifying purchases)

My Thoughts
This is a very good offer for the right person. Instead of reinventing the wheel I highly recommend reading my October post for the full analysis, but I do think many people could get an outsized value from this bonus offer. Remember too that Amex doesn’t report business cards on your personal credit, so it doesn’t count towards 5/24 and you can also add employee cards to get more Amex Offers.
Conclusion
This isn’t a blockbuster 100K offer, but it is a card and a bonus that can be quite valuable. If you somehow missed it the first time around or forgot about this bonus, you have a few more weeks to take advantage.

Wait a minute…. The ad says Membership Rewards points, so how are these not the same as other MR points? @Scott Daniels, where do you get this info from?
See article: http://thepointsguy.com/2016/10/amex-blue-for-business-bonus-offer;
and from AMEX herself:
https://rewards.americanexpress.com/myca/loyalty/us/catalog/tandc?tier=LF&mrk=&stoken=#
“The following Cards are not eligible to transfer points: Blue for Business Credit Card…”
And from that AMEXX article I quoted:
“If you have a Card enrolled in Membership Rewards when you enroll another Card, the Cards may be linked to the same program account. If this happens, both Cards will be eligible for the benefits available to the Card with the greater benefits. For example, if you link a Blue Card to a program account with your Platinum Card, you will be eligible to transfer points that you’ve earned by spending with your Blue Card.”
Which means to me that you do not understand how this works. It just means that the MR points from BOTH (or more than two) cards can be in the same account and thus used the same way.
True. But this means you must have two cards — the Blue Business, plus another true MR-type card, eg Everyday. Anyone who has just the Blue for Business is in for a disappointment.
You mean if we don’t have another true MR-type card we would be in for disappointment, right? Because as I’m understanding it, since I am a Plat holder, I’d be able to use these points together, right?
Correct
I don’t think the MR points you accumulate with this AMEX Blue for Business cc are true MR pointss; eg they can’t be transferred to airline/hotel FF accounts. They can be redeemed for GCs, at upwards of 1 ct/pt. Just got mine and will ,look into this further. I’m wondering if I can do a Product Change at some point, into a REAL MR point type card, and transfer my Bklue MR points into the new card???
