Amex Pay Over Time Bonus

Amex Pay Over Time Bonus Follow-Up

Last week I logged into my American Express Business Platinum account and was offered 10,000 Membership Rewards points to enroll in their “Pay Over Time” program. This program allows you to actually carry a balance on the charge card and pay it over time. I covered the details of my offer and the program in my previous post.

In that post quite a few people had questions about how long it takes for the bonus to post, whether or not there is a hard inquiry and whether it is possible to get the bonus on more than one card at the same time. Since I know all of those answers now, I thought I would follow up.

Getting the Bonus Twice?

Although the 10K offer was only on my Business Platinum, when I clicked to enroll, the website showed me that my Business Green card was also eligible for the bonus. After looking through the fine print, I confirmed that each account can get a bonus, so I enrolled both. Would I get both bonuses? Well, it only took 3 days for me to find out.

Cha-ching!

As you can see, both bonuses posted and quickly! This means that you are able to get the 10K bonus on each eligible card. In my case, the offer wasn’t even showing on my Green card, but it did show when I clicked it from the Business Platinum. I take this to mean that as long as a card shows up after clicking the targeted offer, that it is eligible.

Hard Inquiry?

The other big question was whether or not enrolling in Pay Over Time would trigger a hard credit inquiry. Thankfully I can report in my case that no hard inquiry was performed. This is in line with the experiences of others, but I suppose that could always change. I was prepared for the hard inquiry just in case, but I am definitely glad that they didn’t run my credit.

Conclusion

If you are targeted for an Amex Pay Over Time bonus then it might be an easy way to pickup some Membership Rewards points without much hassle. In my case it took three days for the 20K points to post and I didn’t have my credit run. That is a win/win and a great deal if you ask me.

  1. I signed up for this with my business Platinum & Green cards on 5/6 and haven’t received the bonus as of 5/12. It was offered on both cards.
