Amex Platinum 125K Offer

Note: It is being reported (as recently as 7/25/21) that a new batch of people are being targeted for the Amex Platinum card on CardMatch.  While CardMatch offers are subject to change at any time, if you were not targeted before you may be now! Update 7/29/21

Amex Platinum 125K Offer Via CardMatch

From time to time CardMatch and American Express team up to provide the targeted Amex Platinum 125K offer to certain people. Earning 125,000 Membership Rewards points for one welcome offer is about as good as it gets in terms of welcome offers.

Cardmatch will also target people for other increased offers as well so it is worth checking. Some of these readers were not targeted before so this could be a new round of people getting it.

The Offer

  • Earn 125,000 Membership Rewards points after you use your new Card to make $5,000 in purchases in your first 3 months.
  • Earn 10x on purchases at US gas stations and US supermarkets on up to $15,000 combined in the first 6 months.

Check CardMatch for the offer.

The offer is showing for some people when searching for matched offers through CardMatch. Make sure you also click ‘All Matches’ on the left hand menu. CardMatch is run by Bankrate and doesn’t impact your credit with a hard inquiry.

Analysis

Since you can only get the bonus on the regular Amex Platinum card once, it is always nice to wait for the best offer possible. I always suggest people wait for a 100,000 – 125,000 point welcome offer to maximize their opportunity. The old offer everyone used to hope for was for 100,000 points and this offer is 25% better. Once you throw in the 10x earning opportunities and this is the best credit card offer we have ever seen. Check out our Complete Guide to Platinum Card Benefits.

125K points are worth over $1,800 for most people and you get lots of extra perks with this card. As a quick reminder it comes with Centurion and Priority Pass lounge access, $200 in Uber credits per year, various elite statues and a $200 airline fee credit each calendar year. (See below for more benefits) Do keep in mind this card does have a $695 annual fee (Rates & Fees terms apply) which is not waived.

Conclusion

This is one of the best offers you’ll see on this card, aside from the rare 150K offers that we haven’t seen in a while. If you’re not able to get the 125K offer, you’re often stuck with the public 75K bonus. 1. Offer doesn’t show up on CardMatch. I have a 75000 Amex Plat upgrade offer when I log into my Blue Cash Pref. Anyone any experience asking to be matched to the 100000 offer?

  2. Weird 838 scrore, zero debt get some amex offers but not platinum. 70k platinum on their site wonder why i have to misspell my name just to get any amex offers in CardMatch

    • No one really knows what triggers the Amex offer to show up. Usually someone with little or no history with Amex has the best shot though it seems.

    • I just tried and it was able to get offers to come up. Maybe you have a bad cookie etc. or just were not targeted for anything? Maybe try opening it in a different browser and see if that helps?

  3. I got the offer last year for the 100 points on AX platinum. I had questions so I called, and was erroneously given 25,000, not 100, and AX acknowledges I had the offer, but I “agreed” to the 25,000, and even though they stated this as factual, they will not honor the bonus miles. The only reason I did this was for my Charity, I take ladies with terminal diagnoses on “bucket list” trips/journeys. Worst service ever! Smug young guy read me the “rules”, all the while stating if I’d accepted the offer on line, and not called “dumb & dumber”, I would’ve been fine!

  4. I have the same issue. When I open the email it goes to the 100K offer. Ive called multiple times to SPG and Amex and they still have not fixed it. Frustrated.

  5. I have has this card before but closed later and now I’m seeing I’m getting targeted. Will I still get the bonus if I apply again? Thanks.

  6. Any idea when it will expire? I finally got it (yippee! ) but really need to be poised for getting SW companion renewed…it expires in December!
So I wanted to wait until I applied for those?

    • CLEO: I’m sorry I don’t have an answer to your question. May I ask, you said you finally got it. Do you recall, before you got it, if other Amex cards showed up on there? My experience has been Chase and Capital One cards only.

      • Hi Leigh. Idk why I finally was targeted. My credit score has always been high. I have never done much Amex …. I am not a “player” but have tried to be strategic for certain goals…..mainly UR….because I find the Amex structure tricky.
I did get. Hilton card a year ago and downgraded to the no AF card when time came for it.
I too have always gotten worthless freedom, etc, in the card match thingy. Honestly, I almost didn’t even check.

        • Hi Cleo, My question was not clear. On the Cardmatch website, do you recall if you’ve ever seen any Amex cards on there before? On the website, I haven’t been suggested ANY Amex cards ever. That seems strange to me. I’m trying to get more data points.

  7. I just got targeted from this!

For more context, I already have a cancelled SPG card and an active blue cash preferred card with Amex. I have been waiting for the 100k offer for two years and finally got it from Cardmatch.

    • There is no “all matches” option on the left. It lists a number of features and banks, but no all matches checkbox. How do you get to this?

  8. AMEX is very weird in my experience with their offers. We make good money, have excellent credit scores… Nothing (incognito, different devices, different browsers.) We have a couple, friends of ours who we are trying to guide town the path of points and miles. Humble income, humble scores (wonderful folks, btw) and they literally get every offer, cannot apply because they have a hard time meeting the spending requirements for the bonus.

    • Same here… Interestingly, I had dinner with a friend on Saturday and he talked about getting denied for the Chase Sapphire Preferred card, but getting approved for the AMEX Platinum. He got a 75,000 sign up bonus AND they waved the $550 yearly fee for being military.

I picture Cartman from South Park sending out pre-screened offers and approving applications based on how many hot pockets he has had in the last hour…

  9. Something is up. I NEVER see Amex cards.

I am an “alumni” of the “stop sending me pre-screened offers. I think Amex got that notification and followed through. I have since asked to get pre-screened offers on one particular site, but still no Amex on this site! Kills me!

    • Interesting. I’ve never heard of 870 credit score. Must be some new elite status you have with the US government

  10. I do not see a place on the left hand menu that says “ALL MATCHES” The only cards are Chase and BoA.
I have 840 credit. I don’t want Chase as I am 5/24. Really looking for Personal Platinum AMEX with 100K

    • Same here… Not seeing a single AMEX card or offer coming up for me… With an 840 credit score and very low debt to income ratio… I should be able to see this offer or at lease other AMEX offers.

  11. Does anyone know why Amex would be making hard inquiries on my credit report monthly when I haven’t had an Amex card since 2010? It doesn’t seem to be affecting my score, but just wondering and I can’t find an answer to this anywhere. Tried calling Amex and keep getting transferred around, no one has an answer.

    • I am guessing it is a soft inquirie which everyone does but that should only be if you have an active card with them.

    • That is the only option currently available outside of targeted offers. You can try using a clean browser to search sometimes that brings up 75K offers.
