It never hurts to ask.  I do think limiting vouchers to 90 days is a bit punitive.  The ones American Airlines sent me were good for a year which I think is more than fair.  I think travel vouchers should be good for at least 6 months, especially when a low cost carrier’s calendar does not extend out very far.
