Bank of America Free Museums

Bank of America Free Museums 2015

Bank of America’s Museums on Us program has been around for awhile. On select days of the year, you can flash your Bank of America credit or debit card and receive free admission to select museums.

I have used the program several times before including this past summer when my son and I visited the Seattle Art Museum. Tickets for the Seattle Art Museum are steep at $19.50, but thanks to Bank of America, I didn’t have to pay anything!

How it Works

Bank of America Free Museums

Each Bank of America or Merrill Lynch cardholder, including authorized users is granted 1 free museum admission. In my experience, all you have to do is show them the card & your id. Very simple.

Dates & Museum Locations

Museums on Us runs the first Saturday and Sunday of every month. (Dates shown above.) You can visit as many participating museums as you wish during the promotional dates.

There are well over 100 participating museums spread across the United States. You can search by state on their website or view a PDF with every museum listed.

Terms

Bank of America Free Museums
Our free admission tickets to the Seattle Art Museum.

Offer valid the first full weekend (Sat. & Sun.) of the month. Photo ID and any valid Bank of America or Merrill Lynch credit or debit card must be presented. One free general admission limited to cardholder at participating institution. Excludes fundraising events, special exhibitions and ticketed shows. Not to be combined with other offers.

Conclusion

While “Museums on Us” is no reason to go out and get a Bank of America credit card, if you have one then this is a great way to get to see a local museum or visit a museum while on the road.

    • As far as I know any Bank of America credit or debit card works. I am not sure of a regular ATM card without the Visa/MC logo. My guess is it would depend on the venue, but would probably work.

  1. OK, I’ll stump you because admittedly, I could not find this anywhere on the Museums on Us site.

Although it lists the museums that participate, it does not list the credit cards that will get you in for free.

Yes, your card should say Bank America on it, but there is at least one Bank of America issued/affiliated credit card that does not sport that logo.

I refer to the Fidelity Investments American Express card issued by a unit of Bank of America.

If this card also sports this perk, it would be yet another reason why it is a good card to add to one’s portfolio.

Just don’t know if one would obtain the free museum admission by flashing it!

    • That is tough, because I believe the Fidelity card says FIA Card Services and not Bank of America. (Even though I know FIA is owned by BofA.) My guess is they could probably call and verify it is a Bank of America card. Perhaps some of the busier museums already know. I would think it is eligible since it is a Bank of America card, but you are right, it might give you issues.

      • I think it would. I am still waiting for my card, but then once I get it, I will SMS them for an answer.

If it is positive, I will ask them or perhaps someone from a B of A branch, to write me a letter to show the teacher, err… museum staff member, that I should get in for free!

Thanks for the prompt reply and enjoy your weekend with your kids!

  2. What museums can I go to in the Phoenix, AZ area ? For the rest of 2015 ? I can’t find a list anywhere. Thanks.
