Bank of America Free Museums 2017

Announcement: Please see our updated 2019 post for the latest information!

Bank of America’s generous and fun Museums on Us program has been around in some form for many years. On the first weekend of every month, you can show your Bank of America credit or debit card and receive free admission to a roster of museums across the country.

I have used the program and helped others maximize it countless times over the past few years. From our local Children’s Museum in Las Vegas to the Seattle Art Museum, we have had a great time, learned a ton and received tremendous value.

How it Works

Bank of America Free Museums 2017
Bank of America Free Museums 2017 calendar.

Museums on Us works quite simply and easily. Each cardholder (including authorized users) is granted admission to participating museums during the first weekend of every month. In my experience, all you have to do is show them the card & your id. You get one free entry per card. Very simple.

Dates & Museum Locations

As mentioned previously, Museums on Us runs the first Saturday and Sunday of every month. (Dates shown in the calendar above.) You can visit as many participating museums as you wish during the promotional dates. Museum hopping is so much fun, especially when you happen to be traveling to a new city during the first weekend of the month!

Bank of America has about 150 participating museums spread across almost every state. To find a museum in your area (or an area you will be traveling to), you can search by state on their website.

Terms

To qualify, simply present your active Bank of America® or Merrill Lynch® credit or debit card along with a photo ID to gain one free general admission to any participating institution. Cardholders only; guests are not eligible for free admission. Excludes special exhibitions, ticketed shows and fundraising events.

Conclusion

While “Museums on Us” is no reason to go out and get a Bank of America credit card, if you have one then this is a great way to get to see a local museum or visit a museum while on the road. I currently have quite a few Bank of America cards and enjoy my Preferred Platinum Honors status with them, so when we visit a museum, the whole family goes for free!

  1. I took advantage of the one and only D.C. selection earlier this year. No offer in the St. Louis area, so it’s either Chicago or Kansas City. For Orlando, one needs a vehicle, Uber or ride 2 or 3 buses.
