Barclays Arrival Premier Sign-Up Bonus & Other Leaked Info
In case you have been out of the loop and haven’t heard Barclays is to launch a new premium credit card some time next month. As any good company should, they are seemingly building hype by leaking out details of the card little by little. While the Barclays Arrival Premier will be a premium offering, it will sit in the market somewhere between their current Arrival Plus card and high annual fee cards like the Amex Platinum or Chase Sapphire Reserve.
Last week I brought you some of the first leaked details about this card. Here is what we knew then:
- Annual Fee: $150
- Credits: Global Entry
- Annual Big Spend Bonuses: 15K points after $15K spend, and another 10K points after another $10K spend
- Transfer Partners: Points earned with this card will be transferable to at least 6 airline travel partners.
Barclays Arrival Premier New Leaked Info
That information was enough to get some of us excited, but now we know even more and things are continuing to look good. According to Doctor of Credit, there are a few more things confirmed. Let’s take a look.
Barclays Arrival Premier Earning Rate
Barclays Arrival Plus card currently earns 2X everywhere, so many had speculated that this would be the case with the Arrival Premier. Indeed it is true! The Barclays Arrival Premier will earn 2X everywhere uncapped. This means if you factor in the big spend bonus, you could earn up to 3X (2X regular and 1X bonus) when you hit the spending thresholds mentioned above.
Barclays Arrival Premier Sign-Up Bonus
According to leaks, Barclays has decided to NOT offer a sign-up bonus for their Arrival Premier card at launch. This can change of course depending on how well received it is. Keep in mind that no other bank offers a 2X earning card (uncapped) with transferable points so Barclays is trying to hook you on the card benefits and encourage you to spend and earn with it.
Barclays Arrival Premier Transfer Partners
Unfortunately we don’t have any new information on the transfer partners for the Barclays Arrival Premier. We do know there will be at least six airlines, but beyond that it is still a mystery. As a reminder, Barclays partners with the following airlines for co-branded cards. There isn’t a guarantee these airlines will be partners, but I would expect to see at least a couple of them on the transfer list.
Barclays Co-brand Airline Partners:
- American Airlines
- Frontier Airlines
- Hawaiian Airlines
- JetBlue
- Lufthansa
Converting From Other Arrival Products
Barclays also has two other Arrival branded cards. Doctor of Credit is reporting that neither the no annual fee Arrival or $89 annual fee Arrival Plus will be convertible to the new Arrival Premier at launch. Apparently the bank wants to see how well this new card will do with new applications before they allow any conversions.
Analysis
So there you have it. The Barclays Arrival Premier card will come without a sign-up bonus and with a $150 annual fee, but will hope to make up for it with big spend bonuses and 2X uncapped points earning. Overall I think this card is compelling for someone like me who has a decent amount of spend, but I think its success will largely be decided by the partners the bank is able to sign.

Getting approval for a Barclay card is a nightmare in the first place!
I guess you are talking about an AT&T card(?) which is “not a valid comparison” for me as I don’t own it, or aspire to – not “ignoring” it! Glad it’s working out for you, however…
Well you had mentioned replacing 2 citi cards each with a $95 fee, so I assumed you were referring to the Premier and the ATTAM, since you specifically mentioned the 3x earning aspect of the barclaycard… with that pair of citi cards, you can earn at 3x (online) and then transfer to partners with the Premier (or Prestige)… I apologize for misinterpreting your post, I didn’t realize you were referring to the Citi AA card. If that’s the case, then I agree with you 100% in replacing the AA card, but I certainly wouldn’t ever get rid of my ATTAM card, it has such strong earning power!
If AA is a partner (at .015) I am all IN & canceling my Citi AA cards.
There’s nothing wrong with diversification.
Or consolidation; replacing $190 (2, $95 fees) of Citi cards for $150 Barclays at 3x points (v 1) is def the way to roll for me!
Not a valid comparison because the ATTAM card gives 10,000 points annually after $10k spend, so that MORE than covers the annual fee for that card. You cannot factor in the annual spend bonus on the barclaycard but ignore it on the ATTAM card.
No bonus? No appeal.
without knowing the transfer partners, the earning structure is meaningless. I would rather have the old structure of cash back than miles with partners that are the worthless type. case in example, Citi TK have a dozen partners but how many of those are worthwhile, 2 or 3? let’s not show hypes until the full picture is shown.
Not for me, many better offers available!!
Or if the Uber card will get transfer partners
I think the vast majority of people that would consider applying for this card do indeed value one point more than one cent. One JetBlue point is, of course, worth about 1.4 cents almost by definition. However, as Miles pointed out, we don’t know if it will transfer at 1:1 or not…
Unless you value 1 point more than 1 cent, I did not see the value compare with Citi double cash which has no fees
We don’t know if they will actually transfer 1:1 or not…
Not allowing an Arrival + conversion is only ok if one can also apply for the new card, but that seems prohibited. That would be an incredibly bad business decision and I would speculate at least a 30% loss of Arrival + customers.
