Alaska Airlines 30K + $100 Statement Credit Offer
Last week I covered the news that the public bonus on the Bank of America Alaska Airlines Visa Signature card had increased to 30K miles after $1K spend. That was up from 25K miles after first purchase. A modest increase for sure, but Alaska miles are relatively valuable despite the recent Emirates first class bloodbath.
The $100 Trick
For awhile now there has been a trick to get the Alaska Airlines credit card with a $100 statement credit by simulating a dummy booking on the Alaska Airlines site and going through to the payment page. On that page it normally shows you an offer with the $100 statement credit. When the public link for the 30K offer was released, their website was still showing the 25K offer with a $100 credit instead. Fortunately that has now changed.
30K + $100 Offer Details

As you can see, you can now get the full 30K offer with a $100 statement credit added in by going through a booking on the Alaska Airlines website. (You don’t need to complete the booking.)
Here are the details of the offer:
- Get a $100 statement credit after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening. The $100 statement credit offer is not tied to the Alaska Airlines reservation you just completed and will be applied 8-12 weeks after you make the qualifying purchases with your new card.
- 30,000 bonus miles after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days.
- Annual companion fare from $121 ($99, plus taxes and fees from $22) after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening. There are no blackout dates.
- Free checked bag for you and up to six other passengers on the same reservation.
- 3 miles for every $1 spent on Alaska Airlines tickets, vacation packages, cargo and in-flight purchases.
- 1 mile for every $1 spent on all other purchases.
- No foreign transaction fees, plus chip enabled for enhanced security when used at chip-enabled terminals.
As with the normal 30K offer, the $75 annual fee is NOT WAIVED the first year. Basically, you get the annual fee credited back and make $25 on top of getting the miles. Not bad at all.
Platinum Plus Warning
As a reminder, if Bank of America gives you less than a $5,000 credit line then you will only get the Platinum Plus card with a $50 annual fee. Unfortunately they also lower the bonus on that card to just 5K miles. You do however get the $100 statement credit with either version so with the Platinum Plus you come out $50 ahead after paying the annual fee.
Conclusion
If you are in the market for the Alaska Airlines credit card, then there is no reason not to pickup an extra $100 along with your 30K bonus. While we have seen a 50K bonus briefly on this card, the norm has been 25K and I don’t expect it to go higher any time soon. For many, this card is still valuable for the companion fare and the ability to redeem miles on Alaska’s partners.
