British Airways Avios Hacked
Dan’s Deals is reporting that many British Airways Avios accounts have been hacked. While the source of the hack isn’t clear, they are reportedly shutting down access to many accounts as a preventative mesasure.
If you try to login to your Avios account you may find it has 0 points or worse, you can’t login. In fact, that is exactly what has happened to me. After hearing about this hack I tried to login to my British Airways Avios account only to get the following message:
So it appears my account has been shut down or temporarily taken offline or whatever. Hacks of loyalty programs have become quite common lately and I suspect even hacked accounts will have their points restored.
I can imagine that British Airways is getting bombarded with calls, so I will personally just wait this one out. I have evidence of how many points I had before and I don’t have the need to book flights for the next couple of days, so I hope this will shake itself out.
What Should You Do
If you have flights to book or are in need of your Avios, I suggest checking your account and calling 1-800-452-1201 if there is a discrepancy. If not, I highly suggest waiting it out because the normally 90 minute hold time to get through to British Airways will probably skyrocket on a day like today.

yup 100,000 says ex-gratia gone today.
Hopefully these will come back for us all.
Likewise, 890000 gone….looking forward to these being restored asap
Yep, locked out. Reset my password and logged in, 90k points gone. Says ex gratia manual adjustment.
I lost over 70000 and was locked out also. the wait is indeed ridiculous. I assume they will have to make good. I wonder if they’ll notice when someone starts booking 10,000 around the world flights using airmails?
