Cathay Pacific Pajamas & Amenity Kit – What Is The Latest Version
As any of you that listen to the podcast know, I recently flew Cathay Pacific from JFK to Vancouver. Hilarity then ensued during my flight (which you can hear on the podcast). My goal was to fly that route before Cathay abandoned it, which they ended up doing earlier than expected. After the flight I wanted to share the details on the current Cathay Pacific pajamas & amenity kit.
Cathay Pacific Pajamas
We shall start off with the all important pajamas. I believe they had been a bluish color until recently. As you can see, they are have since changed them to an eggplant color. They are still made by PYE, a luxury men’s clothing brand out of Hong Kong.
The design has remained the same, which isn’t my favorite, but I can not deny that they are extremely comfortable. They are made from 100% organic cotton. I was even able to snag an extra pair for my wife. We only had 3 people in the first class cabin and the flight attendants were more than willing to let me take an extra pair with me.
Cathay Pacific Amenity Kit
Cathay Pacific switched to Bamford for their amenity kits in 2019 I believe. Bamford appears to be a newer luxury company but their kit feels well appointed. The outside is made of a nice leather material and I love that it has a little front pocket for easy access. It appears that all of the Bamford products are made in London. Everything about it feels sturdy and well made, but what is on the inside?
You can find the following when you open up the case:
- Sleep Mask
- Toothbrush
- Colgate Toothpaste
- Long Spin Mouthwash
- Bamford Moisturizer
- Earplugs
- Bamford Lip Balm
- Bamford Face Mist
The Bamford moisturizer comes in one of the better lotion dispensers I have seen, you can tell it is well made. It has a very masculine, cologne smell to it which some may not like. The Bamford face mist has a nice lemon scent to it and it gives you a nice boost when feeling tired/dehydrated on the plane.
The inside of the case has three elastic loops to hold the bottles into place, or whatever else you want to put there after the fact. It is a kit I plan on re-purposing for something in the future for sure.
There is one thing that comes with the amenity kit but is given to you separate, and it may be my favorite thing. That would be the small bottle of pillow mist you also receive. You are supposed to spritz your pillow with it right before you go to sleep. It has a very nice smell and an almost essential oils effect to it. I am not going to lie, I still use it at home sometimes. It did help calm me into a nice and relaxing sleep.
Final Thoughts
I think the Cathay Pacific pajamas & amenity kit are both well appointed and top of the line products. The pajamas may not be my favorite design with the high collar etc. but I can not deny that they are extremely comfortable to wear. My wife may or may not wear hers all the time now 😂.
The amenity kit is well constructed and everything about it feels luxurious. I have transformed it into my podcast mic travel case and it works perfectly. Everything that comes with it is top notch and well made as well. The Bamford bottles are very sturdy and I like all of the fragrances of the products. They may not be for everyone though because the fragrances are quite strong, especially with the moisturizer.
The pillow mist is probably my favorite thing of the bunch, too bad it comes in such a small bottle.
Overall I think most people will be very pleased with their Cathay Pacific pajamas & amenity kits. Do not be afraid to ask for an extra for your significant other if the flight is not full either.

Having flown about 50 times CX F, I have quite a collection of their pyjamas and I reuse some of them at home. The design is nice but the quality is unsatisfying. The waist band looses its elasticity very fast.
The pants do feel somewhat like scrub pants which also lose their elasticity very quickly too. I have run into that yet but that will stink when it does happen.
God I didn’t ask for pajamas when I travel CX first class! Flight attendants must be secretly laughing at me: that person never know the difference between First and Business
I am surprised they weren’t already sitting on your seat when you walked in.
I was so looking forward to getting those pajamas and amenity kits from my round trip flight from the US to HKG next week, but I very sadly had to cancel my whole vacation. I had planned it for a whole year and now I can’t go. 🙁 🙁 🙁
That blows Jacob – hopefully you are able to make it up sometime this year.
