Chase Freedom Cards, $200 Welcome Offer Plus Up to 9X on Groceries
Chase is bringing back a great welcome bonus for Freedom cards. Besides the current $200 welcome offer, you can also earn 5% on grocery purchases during the first year. This is limited to just $12,000, but that’s a total of 60,000 Ultimate Rewards points that you can earn.
We saw this offer when the new Freedom Flex card launched, but it is now even better since it stacks with an additional 4% back on groceries thanks to the quarterly bonus categories. Let’s see how the offer works.
Some Of These Offers May Have Ended Or Changed
Chase Freedom Flex
- Earn a $200 bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
- Earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including Target® or Walmart® purchases) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.
- Earn 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in combined purchases in bonus categories each quarter you activate.
- 1% cash back on all other purchases
- 0% Intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases
- No annual fee
This quarter’s 5% categories also have grocery stores (not including Target or Walmart purchases) and select streaming services. So it overlaps with the 5% cash back on groceries that’s part of the welcome offer. On grocery purchases, Freedom Flex cardmembers can earn cash back on both offers. However, since quarterly categories are earned as 4% bonus cash back on top of the 1% cash back earned on every purchase, the most a cardmember will earn per $1 in grocery store purchases in Q3 is 9% cash back.
Chase Freedom Unlimited
- Earn a $200 Bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.
- Earn 5% cash back on grocery store purchases (not including Target or Walmart purchases) on up to $12,000 spent in the first year.
- Earn unlimited 1.5% cash back on all purchases.
- 0% Intro APR for 15 months from account opening on purchases
- No annual fee.
Conclusion
These bonuses on the Chase Freedom cards are as good as it gets when it comes to a no fee credit card. If you have been thinking of applying, then this is the time to do it, since it’s even better than the launch offer for the Freedom Flex at least. If you already have the Freedom Flex you are still able to get the Freedom Unlimited and vice versa since they are considered separate products. Just remember that both fall under, and count towards, Chase 5/24.
If maximized, you end up earning a total of 86,000 Ultimate Rewards points. However, you can still get better bonuses with other credit cards, even if they have an annual fee. This 100K Sapphire Preferred offer comes to mind
