Chase Hyatt Visa & the New 20% Rebate Promotion
Yesterday I wrote about Hyatt’s new 20% points rebate promotion for holders of their Chase co-branded credit card. I was a little bummed that the promotion was only for existing cardholders, since it really is an amazing deal.
Then news started rolling in that the promotion was targeted. Some holders of the credit card were reporting that their accounts were not eligible for the promotion. Suddenly the whole thing didn’t seem quite as good.
Good News Comes to Those Who Wait
Thankfully good news came in the afternoon when Hyatt confirmed that previously booked stays wouldn’t need to be re-booked. Later in the day, Hyatt also confirmed that all current cardholders are eligible and automatically registered for the promotion.
Finally, as you can see in this post on Frequent Miler, Hyatt confirmed via Twitter that new cardholders are eligible as long as they register by 3/31/15. This makes perfect sense for Hyatt, since I am sure it will drive a lot of people (like me) to apply for the card.
Why Did I Apply
One of the reasons I write credit card reviews is so that I can go on the record about a product outside of the hype of a promotion. In my review of this card, I mentioned how valuable the sign-up bonus is. As a Diamond member who gets added perks at higher end properties, it is even sweeter.
The way I see it, by getting this card now, my sign-up bonus also includes the 20% rebate. I already have plans to spend about 50,000 Hyatt points before July (with the possibility of more), which effectively works out to an extra bonus of 10,000 points.
Most of my Hyatt points comes from Ultimate Rewards, so I conservatively value 10,000 points at $150. So by signing up for the Chase Hyatt Visa yesterday, I got two free nights at any Hyatt, a $50 statement credit and about $150 back in points. In other words, this promotion turned a great sign-up bonus into a spectacular one.
Should You Get It
While everyone’s situation is different, if you have plans to spend a lot of Hyatt points between now and the end of July, you may want to strongly consider this card. Hyatt points are valuable and this 20% discount adds up quickly, especially if you are burning points at higher category properties.
Best Offer
The public offer for the Chase Hyatt Visa gives 2 free nights at any property worldwide. There is a better offer that gives the two free nights and a $50 statement credit. You can find directions on how to get it in my review. The process only takes about two minutes.
Conclusion
I am excited about my new Chase Hyatt Visa. While I wasn’t planning on applying for another Chase card so soon after my last application, thankfully they approved me without the need for a reconsideration call.

Thanks for reporting the enhanced offer. Between the new Hyatt offer and the enriched Sapphire Preferred offer (5,000 refer a friend bonuses, plus a minimum of 49,000 points after enrollingva second cardholder and spending $4,000 in 3 months), Chase is easily outpacing American Express, once again.
