Chase Is Removing The Double Hard Pull Error…If You Ask

This weekend we shared some data points with you that people where getting hit with two hard pulls from their Chase applications, from the same bureau. Chase will often pull your report from two different bureaus but pulling twice, from the same one, has to be an error.  It appears Chase is fixing their error and removing the double hard pull, but only if you ask.

Details

We have numerous reports of Chase applications over the last week or two resulting in a double hard inquiry.  This is an error that is punitive to the person applying and can hurt their credit score.  Usually a hard pull knocks your score down 5-10 points.

It seemed fairly obvious that it was an error but Chase has still not done anything about it.  We have still had reports of double pulls coming in.  But Doug at Travel Rewards Warrior let us know that some of his Facebook Group members were able to get it corrected after the fact. They had to proactively reach out to Chase to get it done. The good news is Chase was willing to correct the mistake when they reached out.

The members called the number on the back of their card to complain about the double pull. Once the customer service rep understood the situation they transferred them to the Chase Credit Bureau department. Once on the line with the credit bureau division they were told Chase would request to have the second inquiry removed and they would send out a letter detailing everything.

Final Thoughts

It is good to see this issue get corrected.  It is a shame that people need to take it upon themselves to get Chase to remove the double hard pull but at least it is getting fixed.  Chase may handle it on their own if enough people call in to complain but I would be proactive if I were you.

It also means if you were planning on applying for a Chase card you don’t have to wait any longer.  You should be able to correct it after the fact, unless you don’t want to deal with the hassle. If that is the case then you still may wanna wait a bit for things to clear up.

  1. I don’t know how anyone does business with this bank. This is just another in a long list of anti-consumer moves by Chase. Horrible bank!

    • I think all of the DP I have seen were for personal cards. But I haven’t had a negative DP on business cards either.
