Analysis
I think it is safe to say that this is the card you will want to get and use for travel. Not only does it earn 3X Ultimate Rewards points for travel, but it also has just about every protection you can imagine from emergency evacuation to lost luggage and far beyond. In most cases you should be covered if you book your travel with this card and you’ll earn a lot too.
Some of the other hotel and car rental elite benefits are nice too, although we’ll have to see in real life how good they really are. For now, the 3X points on travel and dining, lounge access and $300 annual credit combined with all of the other protections are the key travel benefits to look at and they are pretty good ones.
Service Benefits
24/7 Customer Service –Â Talk directly to a dedicated specialist anytime. Simply call the number on the back of your card.
Worldwide Travel Assistance – Whether you need help booking travel or modifying a reservation on Chase Ultimate Rewards®, count on the full service support of the Chase Travel Team no matter where you go or when.
Visa Infinite Concierge Service –Â Access to Visa Infinite Concierge who can help you with requests, like dinner reservations, or Broadway, music and sporting event tickets.
Analysis
There really isn’t anything groundbreaking here, but the Visa Infinite concierge service will no doubt come in handy for those who use it. There is nothing like having a concierge book something last minute for you when you are timestrapped on the road.
Rewards Benefits
Chase Ultimate Rewards – Your Chase Sapphire ReserveSM card comes with Chase Ultimate Rewards®, our premier rewards program that lets you redeem rewards for travel, experiences, gift cards, cash back and more. Access Chase Ultimate Rewards to view rewards activity, redeem points, book travel and earn extra points.
No Blackout Dates – No restrictions or blackout dates on airline tickets booked through Chase Ultimate Rewards®. Redeem for tickets on most major airlines and fly any class. If a seat’s available, it’s yours. No restrictions, no blackout dates.
Unlimited Points – There is no limit to the number of points you can earn. Points don’t expire as long as your account is open.
Shop Through Chase –Â Get extra points with Shop through Chase at more than 200 popular retailers online.
Analysis
These benefits are pretty much on par with the other Ultimate Rewards earning cards such as the Sapphire Preferred. Shop through Chase used to be a lot better, but occasionally has good payouts. The big deal with this card is its ability to earn Ultimate Rewards points which are valuable.
Purchase Benefits
Purchase Protection –Â Covers your new purchases for 120 days against damage or theft up to $10,000 per claim and $50,000 per year.
Price Protection –Â If a card purchase you made in the U.S. is advertised for less in print or online within 90 days, you can be reimbursed the difference up to $500 per item, $2,500 per year.
Extended Warranty –Â Extends the time period of the U.S. manufacturer’s warranty by an additional year, on eligible warranties of three years or less.
Return Protection – You can be reimbursed for eligible items that the store won’t take back within 90 days of purchase, up to $500 per item, $1,000 per year.
Analysis
The Chase Sapphire Reserve benefits guide shows just how stacked this premium product is. Sure you have the flashy features like the travel credit, 3X earnings and lounge access, but the Chase Sapphire Reserve also has very good ancillary benefits including: rental car elite status, various purchase protections, primary CDW rental car insurance and even roadside assistance. This is a card that will be in my wallet all of the time.

[…] Preferred competitor. With 3X on travel and 2X on dining it earns at a great rate, although the Sapphire Reserve has definitely eclipsed that. Either way, this is a decent card with a good, but not great bonus. […]

Wondering if $300 credit can be used to pay for a ticket?
Anything that is coded in the travel category. I have the detailed terms in this post. https://milestomemories.boardingarea.com/chase-sapphire-reserve-confirmed-benefits/
Apparently yes. Just like Citi’s Prestige card. Nice, eh?
I don’t understand why they charge $75 for an AU. I could see if you had more than two people. But still.
I already have Priority Club from Amex and from Barclay; I don’t need another membership in that. Also, can you use Priority Club in the US? I think the current Priority Clubs I have are only good in Europe. in the US, I usually end up the Admiral Clubs.
Though wonder if the 3X travel benefits are less restrictive than Citi Prestige; since I’m planning to dump that card next year when the AA lounge benefit disappears.
Any info on what an authorized user get for $75 fee? Thanks!
As of now it seems just the Priority Pass but the car rental elite benefits may apply as well.
Hi, is there any information available whether the Authorized User is eligible for the Global Entry benefit? Thanks.
You only get 1 credit per account so AUs do not get a separate credit.
Bummer. But thanks for clarifying.
We’re heading down to the Oregon coast on vacation right now. There are no Hyatt’s and few other major chains for using points. The ability to get a decent return on points at 1.5 cents each will be huge. We’ll be able to use points effectively stay in random places where it was largely impossible before.
Can you use the 300 dollar travel credit twice in one cardmember year? If so, how do you do it.
Yes the benefit is per calendar year so it will reset on January 1. So you get $300 between now and the end of the year and then $300 more between January 1 and the end of your cardmember year.
I like the 1.5 ur airfare redemption stacked with freedom bonus can really add up quickly . Sadly once the prestige’s 1.6 goes away with AA this will be a nearly unmatched card . Except for the priority pass guess privileges .You would have to add AU for this card.
