Citi Double Cash Spending Offer – 6% Earning In Certain Areas (Targeted)
There is a new Citi Double Cash spending offer being sent out to some targeted cardmembers. We are used to seeing these type of offers for the ThankYou earning cards but I cannot remember it ever being sent out for the Double Cash card. Maybe it was added into the fold now that you can transfer Double Cash cashback to ThankYou points? Let’s take a look at the deal.
Update 9/29/20 – More people targeted. My wife received the gas stations and car rental offer via USPS. It is good through 11/30/20.
Offer Details
The offer is as follows:
- Earn an additional 4% back, up to $25, on the following categories
- Restaurants
- Movie Theaters
- Show Theaters
- Earn an additional 4% back, up to $25, on the following categories
- Gas Stations
- Car Rentals
- Hotels including eligible vacation rentals
- HT Reader Thomas
- Earn an additional 4% back, up to $25, on the following categories
- Consumer Electronic Stores
- Department Stores
- Clothing Stores
- Toy Stores
- HT Reader Gus
The bottom two options seem to be a little out of touch with the times but I am guessing this promo was done up before the pandemic. Well, I hope at least. But most everyone can enjoy 6% back on restaurants. You would earn the 6% on your first $625 in purchases in the categories above. Not a huge win, but if I received the offer I would put it towards my $500 monthly goal for sure.

The funny thing is that my email offer also mentioned 4 additional points, but when I activated the offer from my email, it said that I was confirmed for 5 additional points. We will see what posts.
I’m getting an extra 25% bonus with the savings account, wonder if that would be on top.
Oh well, I probably won’t get the targeted one anyways.
