Delta Status Rollover Issues
Last year Delta made some positive moves for their frequent fliers and Skymiles members. One of those moves was to extend members 2021 Medallion Status throughout the entire 2022 calendar year. Since they already rolled status levels from 2020 to 2021, this means many people are living off status from two years ago. It is a change that I wasn’t super excited about but one I took advantage of anyway. This has gone off without a hitch for most Skymiles members but an MtM Diamond member reached out to me a week ago that there are some Delta status rollover issues. As in some member’s status levels were not properly rolled over.
Delta Chat Agents Were A Bust
Our Diamond member had a flight last week and their status was not showing the proper status level on their account. They should have had their Diamond Medallion status rolled over to 2022 like everyone else but their status level dropped off February 1st.
They reached out to Delta via messenger in the app, to avoid the long holds when calling in, and ran into a bot like response. The Delta agent just kept saying that they would need to file with their “reclaim my status” program. This was after the Delta agent was sent links to their own site saying that the status should have been extended. Strange.
Needing To Pick Up The Phone
Another agent got on a bit later and said they were aware of the issue but that it should be corrected within a week. Well, that week went by and the status was still not updated. The Diamond member had a flight the next day and they were not going to get the perks of their hard earned status. This is when they finally had to pick up the phone and sit on hold to speak with an agent.
The phone rep understood the issue and apologized for the inconvenience. They were also able to force an upgrade through for the member and get them into Delta One for the flight the next morning. The Diamond member also informed me that a day or so later their status was properly updated and extended.
Delta Status Rollover Issues – Final Thoughts
I am not sure how widespread these Delta status rollover issues are but be sure to check your accounts because your status may have improperly dropped down February 1st. It appears that the fix was not automatic even though they are aware of the issue. If you run into problems, and need a quick fix, then calling in may be best. I told the MtM Diamond member to file a complaint and ask for Skymiles compensation for the time wasted on the endeavor. I have found Delta to be pretty accommodating when they know they were in the wrong.
