Discover Authorized User Bonus

Discover Authorized User Bonus

Discover just sent me a targeted offer to add an authorized user to my account. Let’s take a look at the offer and why it probably isn’t that great of a deal!

Email Subject: YOUR NAME, get $25 Cashback Bonus® when you add an Authorized User

Update 11/5/22:

More people have been targeted including myself & my wife.

The Offer

Get $25 Cashback Bonus® after you add an Authorized User and make a purchase by 1/6/23.

Key Terms

  • Only purchases made after the Authorized User is added will count towards the offer.
  • In order for a purchase to qualify the transaction date must be before or on the last day of the offer.
  • Offer is limited to one Authorized User $25 Cashback Bonus® promotion per account.
  • Once promotion details are met, cash back will be credited to your account within three billing cycles.

Analysis

This is a pretty easy bonus since it only requires one purchase instead of the $3,000 in spend I have seen on the offer previously. If I was worried about Chase 5/24 I would skip it but since I am not I’ll add these two offers to my money pot!

Conclusion

This is a much better authorized user offer from Discover than what we have seen in the past. It isn’t to the level of Amex AU offers but it is good to see them improve it.

  1. This isn’t entirely related, except its a Discover product, but if you’re new to discover bank and have 35k to open an account they give you $450. Not many requirements or long length of time. 2.75% interest too. Just throwing it out there.
