Gogo Internet Pass Extension

I am heading to Ann Arbor today for a work event and then to speak at the Ann Arbor Art Fair DO! (I am super excited!) Anyway, since I plan to get some work done on the plane, I popped out an old Gogo internet pass that was given to me at BACon last year.

Unfortunately when I looked at the pass, I noticed that it had expired at the end of June. I then remembered that Dan from Points with a Crew told me how easy it was to get Gogo to issue a new code. He had an expired code and hopped on chat to get it fixed. So I did just that.

Here is how it went:

CeAnn: Welcome to Gogo. My name is CeAnn .
CeAnn: Hi Shawn, what can I do for you
Shawn Coomer: Hi. I have this one time code and am flying tomorrow on Delta. I just looked and the code expired on 6/30/15. Is there anything I can do about it?
CeAnn: Of course, I can replace that for you. The codes do need to be used in flight though. Can you give me the code?
Shawn Coomer: Yes I will be using it tomorrow! That is great. The old code is ———-
CeAnn: Here you go: ————- After signing in to your account and selecting your pass, enter the code at checkout to apply your discount.
Shawn Coomer: Thank you so much! I really appreciate it.
CeAnn: You’re so welcome. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
Shawn Coomer: That is all. Have a great night!

Wow! So easy. Thanks Gogo. You can chat with them here.

Uber Passenger Rating

Over the years I have heard people talk about the elusive Uber Passenger Rating.  You see, even though Uber doesn’t let you see it, the drivers quantify you on a scale from 1 to 5 each time you take a ride. Pretty scary isn’t it? (Ok, it isn’t scary!)

Still, I wanted to know my passenger rating. I am generally a quiet person and I was curious to see if my lack of being a conversationalist cost me on the rating scale. There used to be a well publicized hack that allowed you to see the rating in a browser, but unfortunately Uber shut that down.

Thankfully a new very unsophisticated “hack” has emerged thanks to Business Insider. It is almost so simple that it pains me to say it. To get your Uber passenger rating, all you need to do is email Uber support at support@uber.com with your name, email and phone number.

Some of the reports I read said it takes Uber a couple of hours to respond. Not in my case! I sent them an email at 6:14pm and received a response at 6:16pm. Talk about fast service! The response read:

Thanks for reaching out! Happy to help. Your rating is an average of all your trips taken so far. At this time, it is 5. Excellent!

Woohoo! The Uber drivers like me. They really like me. Ok, they probably don’t like me and I’m sure my friendly wife and handsome son have something to do with it, but still. A 5?!? That made me happy.

P.S. If you have never had an Uber account, you can get $20 free by using someone’s referral link. Mine is housed on the site’s Value for Value page.

Conclusion

I know these are two sort of odd offbeat topics, but I think they will probably have some relevance to a lot of you, so I figured why not share? Now I am off to go use my Gogo code, but I plan to use Lyft when I arrive in Detroit. Shhh. Don’t tell Uber!
