Travel insurance is something that every single traveler reading this right now has at least considered at some point. Maybe you decided the coverage you get from using the right credit card is fine enough for your situation. If that is the case then you likely figured an annual insurance plan was overkill. What about grabbing insurance for that big trip (or two) every year? Would you feel a bit safer on that big international trip with a backup plan locked in? Something that could step up in a big way when you needed it most? In walks Faye Travel Insurance.

What Is Faye Travel Insurance?

Faye Travel Insurance is an all in one travel insurance app that launched in 2022. Since it is a completely app based set up Faye covered all 50 states from the jump. Every day after that Faye Travel Insurance has been making waves in the industry. That makes sense, because the goal was to change the way we did travel insurance. The Faye Travel Insurance app was even named one of the best inventions of 2025 by TIME Magazine.

What Makes Faye Different From Other Travel Insurance?

The goal of Faye is to make travel insurance simple, easy and accessible to everyone with a WiFi signal. What makes it a bit unique is the customizability of the plans, and everything that comes included with your trip protection. Here are some examples of just that:

  • Their offices are around the globe and they provide access to a network of 20K telemedicine doctors (included in your plan when you travel abroad) available in 21 languages and counting.
  • The app offers real-time flight alerts, easy and digital claims submissions, and speedy reimbursements on approved claims to your phone’s wallet.
  • Need help rebooking or finding a pharmacy? Their 24/7 team has you covered.
  • 100% digital claims flow with claims fully handled in-house by Faye
I want to dive into that last one about payments a bit more. Here is what the Faye website has to say about it:

During your trip, if a well-planned moment goes awry and you qualify for a reimbursement ASAP (for example, on baggage that’s lost or delayed for 6 or more hours), we’ll quickly send funds to your Faye Wallet that you can use then and there to purchase what you need most rather than paying out of pocket – like a new outfit, airport meal or toothbrush. Via Faye Wallet, you can be paid quickly for other approved claims as well.

Don’t worry if you are sweating about missing out on your credit card points for the purchases you would need to make. You can also transfer the money from your Faye wallet to your bank account. I love that you can get the money right away, versus spending the money and hoping it gets covered later.

Is Faye Travel Insurance Legit?

I looked at some reviews for Faye Travel Insurance to see how legit this all is. The number one worry when grabbing insurance, and especially travel insurance, is that the claims process will be terrible. That the insurance company will try to play gotcha with your claims. I don’t have personal experience with Faye, outside of grabbing some quotes – which I’ll talk about in a bit, but the reviews are insanely positive.

The spread on these Trustpilot reviews is overwhelmingly a 5 star rating. There are barely even any 4 star reviews, which I found surprising. There are a few 1 star reviews, which is to be expected. That is an impressive rating on over 3,600 reviews, but does it tell the entire story?

Just to be sure it wasn’t a one off thing I checked Google reviews too. There are only about 10% of the reviews that Trustpilot has, but the sentiment is exactly the same.

For comparisons sake, Allianz (probably most known travel insurance) gets a 4 star rating on Trustpilot.

My Experience

I decided to give Faye a test drive myself. I priced out our upcoming trip to Colombia on the app and on my computer. Both systems had the exact same process, which I liked. You give them information on where you are going, which state you live in (as this can impact pricing), your email and the names and birthdays of everyone in your travel party. Then they provide you an instant quote for the trip coverage. It really did take less than a minute to price out your coverage, or mere seconds. Here is what the cost looked like for our trip:

I really like how you can customize things even further. I think people that stay at a lot of Airbnbs or VRBO rental houses will love being able to add on coverage for damage there. If you add the Vacation Rental Damage Protection add-on to your base plan, you can be reimbursed up to $3K in repair / replacement costs if you accidentally damage the rental you’re staying in, or its contents, while in-trip.

The pet care add on is pretty cool as well. It will cover up to $2,500 in veterinary expenses and $250 for kenneling if you arrive back home later than expected.

If you’re trying to sky dive you should look at the extreme sports add on. Your knees will thank me later – or at least your wallet will.

Should You Get Insurance For Your Trip: Final Thoughts

I will say the one downside that Faye Travel Insurance seems to have is that they do not offer yearly travel plans. That may be a deal breaker for some of the get it done and over with once a year crowd. I think it could still be a valuable option for anyone looking to just grab some extra coverage on a few trips every year.

I really like the flexibility of the program with all of the additions you can attach to the main coverage. Being able to be paid on approved claims and common travel hiccups while on your trip is pretty insane as well. I am one that doesn’t do well with the unknown, so this speaks to me. The last thing I want to do while traveling is be worried if I will be covered for my out of pocket costs, or spend time checking the terms of my credit card to see what exactly is covered etc. while in a stressful situation.

Thanks again to Faye Travel Insurance for partnering with us. Also, thank you to all of you who decide to check what coverage for your next trip will look like with them.

*Faye is available to U.S. residents only. Coverage, pricing, and availability may vary by state.*
