Guide: The Chase Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection
Access to the The Chase Luxury Hotels & Resorts is one of the many awesome benefits of available to a number of Chase Card Holders. The LHRC program is a collection of luxury hotels around the world that give you awesome perks when booking a stay through the program. Access to LHRC is one of the many travel benefits available to a specified list of Chase Card holders. Last week, we gave you a guide on a similar program, the American Express FHR program: Guide: How to Book Through American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts and Maximize Your Value For Huge Savings.
Eligible Cards
While it seems there is no official list of Chase cards eligible to book through The Luxury Hotels and Resorts Collection, it’s very easy to check if your card is eligible. First, enter lhrcollection.com and do a search for your desired city. Once you click on a hotel from your results it will ask you to enter the first 6 digits of your Chase card. See pic below for an example.
One thing that’s pretty awesome about Chase is that they don’t require you to hold a premium card in order to access the program, this differs from FHR where you have to have a premium Platinum Card.

Loyalty Program Points and Stay Credit
In addition to all of the listed benefits booking through LHRC does not preclude you from getting elite night and spend credit if you are a member of the hotel’s loyalty program. You should get the same credit you would if you had booked direct. Let’s look at an example. Since many of us will be losing the free breakfast as a result of the merger. This is a Marriott branded property, so you’ll earn around 12,000 base points + 3,000 (bonus points for being Gold). As well as 750 extra points per night (the current promotion awards points per night after you’ve stayed 2 nights.) That’s around 16,500 Rewards Points- which is more than you would need to book a free night in a Category 3 property! (Before the trolls come for me, the member rate on the Marriott site is about $1,000 though so in this case it probably doesn’t pay to book through this program. Note: there are many times when the direct booking rate is the same as that found on LHRC.)
Once your reservation is set, you have to call your hotel and ask that they add your loyalty number to your stay. I’ve never had a problem with this.
Choice of Credit Cards
One great thing about this program is your ability to access it with several Chase rewards credit cards. There are even a few no fee cards that give you the ability to book through the Collection. The flexibility allows you to maximize credit card rewards and choose the card that gives the best rest of return for the particular hotel you’re booking. For example, if you’re booking a Ritz property, you can use the Ritz-Carlton card or one that earns bonus points or travel, like the Chase Sapphire Reserve. Click here for our review. You should also be able to use your annual travel credit from the CSR to offset the cost of the booking. Let’s say you use the Ritz Card- you’ll earn an additional 6 points per dollar, which is about 7200 points.

Final Value
In determining the value of benefits and rewards, I always find it helpful to try to quantify them in terms of how much value they have to me in dollars. I believe it’s easy enough to value the breakfast credits as well as the unique amenity, which in the case of the Edition, it’s a $100 credit. So, the price is about $1220- $220 = $1000. I tend to redeem Marriott Rewards for about 1.5-3 cents a piece, so at the low end, those points are worth about $355 (this really depends on how you use your points.) So my end result would be about $645. Of course, you’re still shelling out $1217, so if you’re just looking for a cheap hotel, this is definitely not the right option for you.
Conclusion
The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection gives us the ability to be treated like valuable elite members without any of the loyalty requirements. One key item to consider is that they may or may not have the best rates compared to other websites or booking direct. Thus, you’ll want to compare rates and decide for yourself how much value you get out of the various benefits. Like most hotels, rates for the same dates change frequently, both up and down. It may benefit you to check back frequently to see if the rates adjust down, in which case you can cancel and re-book at the lower rate.
One thing that drives me crazy about Chase LHRC is that you have to call them in order to modify or cancel your stay. Aside from that, I think it’s a great option and one to consider when evaluating your choices.

Does the price include resort fee and tax when you book directly from lhrcollection? Or will we be charge other fee ( resort fee, tax, service fee…..etc. )when we check in the hotel?
just curious can i pay with amex card when checking out or do they check if its the card you used to book with?
I’m concerned when booking that you’re not charged until you get to the hotel. Is the rate locked in when you book or is there a chance you get to the hotel and are charged a higher rate on the room?
The rate is set, it’s just like any other non prepaid booking…. very common to not pay ahead but lock in a rate.
I’m pretty sure it is because I believe I tried it once in the past and it didn’t work…. I don’t have the unlimited but I’m guessing that works as well.
Wow, the Freedom card works with this now? I was always under the impression it wasn’t eligible. Maybe it’s been a recent change?
Fantastic post. Almost failed to utilize this for an upcoming Bangkok stay.
Thank you 🙂 LMK Which hotel you stayed at and if it’s worth it, might build Bangkok into my mileage run
I would say no if it’s under the same name. But if you’re with somebody Who has one or the other you should be able to alternate
Can this be stacked back-to-back days with American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts for the same resort (for example Bellagio)?
