Hawaii Is Mask Free Now! Well Outdoors At Least
Hawaii has probably been the strictest state when it comes to travel requirements and mandates for tourists. They have been requiring a pre-travel negative covid test to visit Hawaii even as other states, including Alaska, have dropped the requirement. They have also maintained their mask policy indoors, and outdoors, while other states have begun removing the mask policy all together (hello Nevada).
We covered earlier this week how Hawaii was planning on dropping the negative test requirement for vaccinated travelers by July 4th. That was good news that many people were excited about and the Governor shared some more good news travelers will want to hear. There is no longer a requirement to wear a mask outdoors whether you are vaccinated or not. This change happened on Tuesday and it went into effect immediately.
I think that this is big news for tourism since so much of what you do when visiting Hawaii is done outside. This will make the entire experience that much more enjoyable. And with the prices you pay to visit Hawaii you don’t want a reduced experience. I expect that this news, along with the pre-flight test requirement going away for vaccinated travelers, will have people booking flights for this summer and fall. Hopefully the indoor mask requirement going away isn’t too far behind!
