Days 305-306 Tuesday-Wednesday February 19-20, 2008 Tweed Heads, Gold Coast, Australia
NOTE: I was a little uninspired and didn’t take any pictures on these days due to the weather. The update is short and without photos. Since I didn’t have any photos, I used a picture that was taken about two weeks in the same area when the weather was better. Just imagine the same scene with heavy clouds and pouring rain!
We woke up on Tuesday morning and checked out of the hotel. The drive from Brisbane to the holiday park we booked in Tweed Heads was around 100km. In using the holiday park guide this park was advertised as being on the Gold Coast. What we didn’t know was that the Gold Coast extends for over 50km and the park is located on the southern end, across the border in NSW.
Once we arrived, it was clear that this was too far to be used as a jumping off point to visit the theme parks. We agreed to stay two nights so that we could explore the beaches around the area on Wednesday. Supposedly the area around Tweed Heads has some of the best surfing beaches in the world. With Tuesday being an incredibly rainy day, we spent most of the night in the cabin, with Shawn Reece getting a chance to swim during a brief afternoon dry spell.
