Hilton HHonors Status Match 2016
Last year Hyatt set the internet ablaze with a briefly generous status match. Then Hilton joined in on the fun with a very generous match opportunity of their own. As a result of those status matches I am sure many of you have top status with both programs, but just in case, Hilton has brought back their status match for 2016!
How to get an Hilton HHonors Status Match
To request a status match, Hilton is requiring that you fill out a form on their website. They also want you to upload proof of elite status (website screenshot, membership card, etc.) and a recent stay with a competing chain.
Hilton HHonors Status Match Website
Terms
Offer is valid for recipient only. Invitation and offer is non-transferable. To match your status with Hilton HHonors Silver, Gold or Diamond status, you must provide your Hilton HHonors account number and proof of current tier status with Starwood Preferred Guest, Marriott Rewards, IHG Rewards Club, Hyatt Gold Passport, Choice Privileges, or other hotel loyalty program by June 30, 2016. Acceptable forms of status validation include a screenshot of your current account status or your membership card. Acceptable forms of stay validation include a screenshot of your previous reservations or hotel receipt, redacting any personal information other than your name and membership number. We accept .jpg files only. Do not send any personal information (including your phone number, address, social security number, date of birth, user name, passwords, or credit card information). Hilton Worldwide reserves the right to downgrade or remove individuals from the program at any time upon submitting any fraudulent documentation for validation. Must be a Hilton HHonors member to participate in the promotion. After registering and tier status is validated, Hilton HHonors elite tier status will be valid through March 2017, thereafter; standard tier requirements must be met to maintain elite status. Please allow up to 10 business days for your upgraded elite status to be reflected in your HHonors account profile.
Conflicting Information
There are two parts of the status match website that have conflicting information. First, in regards to when the match will expire, the website says the following:
Complete the form below by June 30, 2016 and get a status match with Hilton HHonorsâ„¢, valid through March 31, 2018.
and
Hilton HHonors elite tier status will be valid through March 2017
Similarly, it says that you must be targeted, but then says you can join HHonors as a new member and request the match:
Offer is valid for recipient only. Invitation and offer is non-transferable.
and
You must be a Hilton HHonors member to participate. Join HHonors for free and return to this page to complete the form.
Extending A Previous Match
Like many of you, I was matched to Hilton HHonors Diamond status through 2017. While it isn’t clear whether you can request another match to extend the status out through 2018, I would expect that Hilton won’t allow this. Still, if you are able to request an extension successfully please let us know in the comments!
Conclusion
This new Hilton HHonors status match promotion is a little tougher because they force you to send proof of a stay, but it is still very generous. I would personally screenshot everything since I am sure Hilton will update their website to fix the conflicting information. If you currently hold elite status with another chain and can prove a stay, I can’t see a downside to doing this. Having elite status with Hilton for two years without any cost is an amazing value!

The link doesn’t seem to take me to the correct website. Is this promo done?
That linked died but here is a new one. I have updated the post as well. https://hiltonhhonors.hiltonapps.com/
Any news on this… I never head back from Hilton and it doesn’t look like my Diamond got extended to 2018 (I currently have it through 3/31/2017).

Heard any success stories of extensions of Diamond for ones who got in on the last “easy” Diamond match from multiple other programs?
Not yet. They don’t seem to be responding as quickly as before. I’ll keep everyone up to date.
I have IHG platinum but no recent proof of stay.
I have Marriott stays but Marriott silver seems like will not be able to match Hilton diamond.
I should get my IHG platinum earlier.

any data point on someone who is already a Hilton Diamond for 2016 (not through a match) getting it matched through this website until 2018? I am 100% I won’t qualify for 2017 but I am a Hyatt Diamond so I was hoping to get it matched until 2018.
Don’t make the same mistake I did: The two screenshots I sent in were in .png format, not the required .jpg format. When I tried to re-submit with jpg’s, the HHonors website would not accept because it had already received a request for the same HHonors account number.
So…make certain you submit jpg’s.
@Miles
You can successfully re-send your request on a different Browser.
I first did on Safari, made the same mistake that the files were in PDF format, the “Uploading” failed. Then I opened “New Incognito Window” on Chrome, re-submit it successfully, then get this message on the screen:
WE’RE ON IT!
Thanks for requesting status with Hilton HHonors. We’re processing and validating your request. Please allow up to 10 business days for your account to be updated.
