As I mentioned a few days ago, I am in the middle of participating in the Hyatt Diamond Challenge. Among the many benefits of Hyatt Platinum Status is reciprocal status with the M life program. I recently signed up for M life and was immediately given my Platinum status, so I thought I would share with you the benefits and how to register yourself.

The History Of A Partnership

In June of 2013 M life & Hyatt announced a groundbreaking partnership. In what was truly the first partnership of its kind, they announced that they would be providing reciprocal stay credits and status for members of the other program.

Under terms of the deal, M life properties became bookable on Hyatt.com and vice versa. Also, M life elites receive Hyatt status and Hyatt elites earn M life tier status. The match from Hyatt to M life is what is of most concern to me since I am now a Diamond!

Reciprocal Status

Make Vegas Yours

Whether you have received your status through a match, through actual stays or through the Hyatt credit card (non-affiliate link), there are quite a few benefits to signing up for M life.  As you can see from the graphic, regular Hyatt Gold Passport members receive Sapphire status, Platinum members get Gold status and Diamond members receive Platinum status.

You can find out the benefits of each tier here, but in my opinion a couple of benefits stand out. Both Gold & Platinum members get access to special room discounts that aren’t available to the public. Both tiers are also eligible for room upgrades based on availability and increased earning ability.

Platinum status adds a few more perks like turndown service, access to a concierge line, line passes for the buffets and cafes and the ability to skip the valet or taxi line.  I really believe the room discounts and upgrades are the best perks here, although it might be fun to whiz past the lines at restaurants and at the valet.

M life also has a reciprocal agreement with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines. This means that M life elite members receive certain perks when sailing on Royal Caribbean. Both Gold & Platinum members receive a welcome amenity, departure lounge access & a complimentary specialty dinner.

What is very interesting to me is the free drink vouchers for both Gold & Platinum. Anyone who has ever been on a cruise knows just how expensive the drinks can be. Additionally, Platinum members get 30 minutes of free internet, which can be expensive when you are on the high seas.

Platinum M life elites do also receive one free 3, 4, or 5 night cruise per year, although I am told that doesn’t apply to status matched members. (I do know at least one person who has received a free cruise though.) The terms do also state that only M life members who received their tier status through spend with M life are eligible for the on-board benefits. In reality, many people have received the perks.

How To Register For Reciprocal Status

Hyatt has made it super easy to sign up for M life and match your status. Simple click here and enter you Hyatt Gold Passport number & password. You will be taken to a page where you are asked to either sign in to your existing M life account or sign up for a new one.

If you currently have an account, simply signing in should get you the reciprocal status. If creating a new account, you will simply follow the prompts and enter your information. When the account is created, it will automatically have the correct tier status.

Once you have M life status, to receive your benefits on board Royal Caribbean, you simply have to call the casino call center at 1-800-762-0702. For all of the terms and more information about the Royal Caribbean program, I highly suggest visiting their website.

Conclusion

I explained the other day just how much I love Hyatt Gold Passport and having Diamond status. While the status is fantastic at Hyatt hotels, as a Vegas native I am excited about the potential of receiving benefits at some of my local hotels. Additionally, the room discounts will make it much easier to re-qualify for Diamond status next year.

I am also a big cruiser and find that Royal Caribbean is probably the best of the mainstream cruise lines. Their ships are fantastic and I have always found their service and food to be excellent. I am excited to explore those benefits as well.

In the end, it is super easy to register & receive your reciprocal M life status. I takes less than five minutes and opens up a new world of benefits when visiting Vegas and when cruising with Royal Caribbean!
