Hyatt Privé is an under-the-radar program that gets excellent benefits at hotels, and even if you have any elite status, it is still an excellent program that may provide some benefits. These benefits can include things such as breakfast at the restaurant, a higher upgrade priority, and better early check-in priority. To find out more, let’s dive into this Hyatt Prive guide.

What is Hyatt Privé?

Hyatt Privé is a program that is for invited agents, who in turn give guests extra perks at select hotels.

How to get the benefits:

To get the benefits, you need to book with a travel agent. In my opinion, there are a lot of perks to booking with a travel agent, as they can give you great recommendations when they get to know you, and they are also a great point of contact. But, I have found that all of the travel agents I’ve contacted take about 3 days to respond, if at all. Because of that there’s none I can personally recommend. Our friend Spencer Howard at Straight to the Points does offer the service though. You can contact him here.

There is also a site known as Classictravel.com that I have found to be very helpful. Their rates match the flexible rate, and the website is somewhat easy to use. Here’s how it works:

First, enter the hotel name or city name. I am using the Andaz Capital Gate (located in Abu Dhabi) in this example:

Then enter the travel dates, how many rooms, along with how many people are staying:

After that, click the search button and choose the type of room. This is the most important step, as you have to choose the room type that says “Hyatt Privé Rate”, or else you won’t get any benefits.

Is booking through Hyatt Privé like booking direct?

Yes, this is treated as a direct booking, similar to how an FHR booking is considered, so this also makes it possible to earn elite benefits and get elite night credits.

What are the benefits?

The benefits are:

• $25-$100 property credit, per stay
• Complimentary Breakfast for 2 people, per day
• Welcome Amenity and Letter
• Priority for Early Check-In and Late Check-Out

Can you book this using points?

No, you cannot. In order to get Hyatt Privé benefits, you must book through a Hyatt Privé Travel agent and book the “Flexible Rate”.

Does Hyatt Privé cost extra?

Booking through Hyatt Privé does not cost extra. However, this is priced as a flexible booking, so while it does cost more than a “Member Rate” booking, the cost is basically the same, and most travel agents don’t charge more to book this rate.

Do elite benefits still apply?

Yes, and the FHR and Globalist benefits “stack.” Even if you are a globalist, you are able to get a better upgrade through Hyatt Privé. An example of this is that you were booked into a base king room, and since Hyatt Privé has confirmed upgrades within 24 hours of booking, you can get upgraded to a deluxe room at that time. But, when you check in, you can get upgraded further to a room that is one category higher than you would normally, had you not booked through Hyatt Privé.

Another example is that if you are staying at a hotel with a club lounge as a globalist, you are only allowed to have breakfast there, but, with Hyatt Privé, you can eat at the restaurant. The restaurant is also likely to have a better quality breakfast, so it is a great perk.

What’s the point of elite status?

If you are not staying at Hyatt hotels enough to have Globalist status and you are booking through Hyatt Privé or staying at Hyatt House and Hyatt Places, there is not much of a reason to go out of your way to get Globalist status. The primary benefits of elite status are upgrades and free breakfast, and since Hyatt Privé eliminates the need for non-Hyatt Place and Hyatt House hotels, there’s very little reason to go for status. Plus, the upgrades that are possible at Hyatt Place and Hyatt House mean that it’s not worth going out of your way for elite status.

Is there a minimum stay?

For Park Hyatt, Miraval, and Andaz stays, there is no minimum stay requirement. But, for all other brands (Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, Alila, Joie De Vivre, Thompson, and Unbound Collection), there is a minimum stay requirement of two nights.

Do all hotels participate?

All Park Hyatt, Andaz, and Miraval properties participate, but not all other branded hotels participate. There is a list below of all hotels that participate.

Can you apply Globalist Suite Upgrades on Hyatt Privé Stays?

Yes, you can. For example, you could book a Hyatt Privé rate at the Andaz Capital Gate for a 1 King Bed room, and apply for a GSU. This would mean you could get a Capital Suite, and with the Prive rate, you could then be further upgraded to an Executive Suite. That’s pretty great.

Do MGM Resorts and SLH hotels Participate?

No, only the hotels below participate in the program, and partner hotels do not participate either. If you are looking how to get extra benefits in Vegas, here is how you can.

Can you book an all-inclusive hotel with Hyatt Privé?

Yes, you can, but the benefits differ. The benefits are:

• $50 USD Property Credit
• Early Check-in/Late Check-out
• Priority for a complimentary room upgrade
• A Welcome Amenity
• Complimentary WiFI

Overall, these benefits are not great, but it’s definitely better than nothing, especially if you don’t have status.

Hyatt Privé Guide: What Are Some Of The Cheapest Hotel Options?

In order to find some of the cheapest Hyatt Prive hotels, I clicked on the destination search bar, and then entered Hyatt. “Hyatt Hotels and Resorts” then popped up, and I made a dummy booking for a one-night stay from 7/24/22 to 7/25/22, and I clicked search:

Then, I noticed something quite odd; it lists the hotels from low to high pricing, which isn’t all that surprising. But, what is strange is it does it by the number and doesn’t take into account that some currencies are valued differently. For example, it has the Alila Jabal Akhdar in Oman as 150 Omani Riyals, which is equal to $390USD. They do have a built-in currency converter that will show the value of that specific currency, but this is still something worth noting.

Cheapest Hotel Internationally

The cheapest hotel I found was the Alila Solo, located in Central Java, Indonesia. For $58 a night at a hotel located in the center of the city, you can get a free breakfast, a one-category upgrade, and prioritized early check-in and late checkout. That’s pretty awesome!

The most “profitable” hotel for Hyatt Privé is the Andaz in Delhi, India. For $126 per night, you can get free breakfast, early check-in, and late checkout based on forecasted availability, a one-category upgrade, and a $100 property credit. Since breakfast is included and there’s a $100 property credit, the stay basically is free! It is possible to stay at the Hyatt Regency Hong Kong Tsim Tsa Tsui for $102, with a $100 credit, but since Hong Kong is still closed, there’s no real way to stay there.

Cheapest Hotel Option Domestically

Domestically, the cheapest hotel is the Andaz Savannah, which is located right in the Savannah Historic District. This hotel includes free breakfast, a $100 property credit, early check-in, and late checkout, along with a one-category upgrade. It isn’t as good of a deal as some hotels are in Asia, but if you’re planning to stay there anyway, it’s worth looking into.

What Is Hyatt Privé – Final Thoughts

Overall, I think Hyatt Privé is an excellent program. It eliminates the need to stay 60 nights in order to get these benefits, and it may even mean better treatment by the hotel when you book through this program. Booking through classictravel.com couldn’t be easier, so I highly recommend booking through there in order to get these perks. The only downside is you can’t use points for the stay. But, if you were going to pay cash for the stay anyway, and don’t have Hyatt status, this is a great option to upgrade your trip for the same cost.
