JCPenney Offer Combination – Awesome Deal!

JCPenney has a very good offer going on right now that I think is a great example of how you can combine an Amex Offer with other specials to really save a lot of money. Let’s take a look and breakdown the deal. Even if the JCPenney offer isn’t for you, hopefully it will help you see how easy it can be to combine deals.

The Offer

Receive a $25 off $25 coupon with the purchase of $100 in JCPenney e-gift cards online or JC Penney physical gift cards in-store. There are some limitations and you can see the terms here.

The Amex Offer

Get a one-time $10 statement credit by using your enrolled Card to spend a minimum of $50+ in one or more transactions in-store at JCPenney or online at jcp.com by 12/31/2015. (This is no longer available to be loaded, but those who have loaded it previously can take advantage.)

In-Store Only

While the Amex Offer works on jcp.com, e-gift cards sold online come from Cashstar so they won’t trigger the Amex Offer plus you can’t split tender anyway. The best way to do this is to visit a store and purchase $100 in gift cards by splitting tender between two Amex cards linked to the offer. You will receive the $25 off $25 coupon and $100 in gift cards for $80!

Moneymaking Opportunity?

JCPenney gift cards can be sold for about 75% of face value, so you sort of lose a bit if you sell these. With that said, if you have a good use for the coupon, then you can purchase clothing and many other goods with it. I personally have obtained a bunch of these coupons and have found good uses for them. JCPenney also frequently runs sales and other discounts that you can stack with this.

Conclusion

This is just one opportunity of many that arise where you can combine an Amex Offer with another special to save a ton of money. Since I have a personal need for the gift cards, this amounts to $25 for free to spend on clothes and other household goods. Even if you end up taking a loss on the gift cards, if you find a good use for the coupon then this could be a good opportunity. If this one isn’t for you, look for other similar deals that come along!

  1. Great point, I just thought about that today too after taking advantage of the stacking of the $10 off $25 and free shipping coupon. I did 3 separate orders of about $17 each to trigger one of my AMEX offers but have 2 left and I’m all JCP shopped out at the moment. If I’m brave this weekend I’ll fight the crowds to get my super cheap JCP gift card 🙂 You probably don’t have kids but once you do you will understand the true of value free shipping and NOT having to drive to a physical store!
