Posts That Caught My Eye
Kate vs. K8. Loading Bluebird/Serve vs. REDbird.
Target has gone and updated their software at many stores. Apparently this update affects the way REDbird is loaded. While pin-enabled debit cards will work, the process now seems more complicated and apparently is much slower.
Useful BankAmeriDeal At Office Depot
Perhaps it isn’t worth the effort to keep all of the lower denomination stamps around, but there is one little gem in this post. I’m not sure how I had missed this strategy before, but cutting out the Cardpool postage stamps and combining them is a great idea. It is a little more tedious to enter in one card orders to get a new stamp each time, but it does make sense I think. I’m not sure I would do every single card by itself though.
Is this the Aircraft of the Future?
I think this design is a bit ugly, but something tells me we will see more and more “out of the box” designs in aviation as technology improves and engineers are able to do more with less.
American Express Centurion Studio in Seattle Has Opened!
I really love the design language that American Express is using. This new “Studio” has more limited offerings than the full lounges, but it still looks very nice. I find it interesting that they won’t be selling day passes.
A Trip To The Mountains Surrounding Almaty: Medeu Sports Complex And Shymbulak Ski Resort
A great trip report on a great blog. I love seeing and hearing about more obscure places. While a lot of people know of Almaty, I don’t really know of a lot of people who go out of their way to visit. Check out another recent post and you will even find that Almaty has a clean fresh new Metro!
Great Deals
- Groupon is once again back with their 20% discount. This time use the code SUMMER20. The code expires tomorrow 7/1/15.
- Did you hear about the amazing Amex Offers from BJ’s? If not I covered them in great deal earlier. Think 50% off and 3x use per card!
Credit Card News & Notes
- While the affiliate links died earlier today for the increased Delta Amex offers, I do believe that they are still available directly on the Amex website. That will probably end sometime tonight.
Have a great night!

I loaded Redcard yesterday in Target, nothing has changed with regards to software or GUI when loading.
Didn’t see anything related to the Cardpool hack, but I’m guessing it’s referring to the free postage stamp per order. You can place individual card orders and use multiple credits towards a priority mail label.
I however don’t go that route. I use first class shipping with the included tracking. Cost is usually $2-2.80 per label and I use a small 4×7 bubble mailer. Postage paid via PayPal and shipped from home. All done in Tighy Whitey (or boxers haha) fashion.
To me, when factoring in the time-value of money it’s a no brainer to go this route for the majority of those selling high value cards. A $3 cost on a $2,000 order is negligible.
For selling things on Ebay I know have a tracking # is very valuable because Ebay doesn’t make you pay out a claim if the recipient claims the package didn’t come but the tracking shows it did. However, I doubt that CardCash, Cardpool, etc. have this same kind of arrangement. Do they? If not, what is the benefit of adding a tracking # besides peace of mind?
While I think the insurance is $50, I’ve read data points suggesting they won’t insure the gift cards anyways. They’ll insure the value of the plastic that’s on them! (lol)
As far as tracking is concerned, if it shows up at Cardpool’s PO BOX in Emeryville, CA and they claim they didn’t get it, then at the very least they’re going to work with me – a bulk seller – to figure out the problem since they know it was indeed delivered.
I’m sure I could also call the post office and track it down. Worst case it provides me with a way of knowing it’s still in transit. If it appears I won’t be able to recover the gift cards I’ll have to swiftly get replacement cards (if possible) and have another option in place to minimize the damage.
Correct that GCs can’t be insured for their value. By having tracking, you can make sure things are going well and at the first sign of trouble, you can see about getting GCs reissued, etc. Not 100% fool proof, but you have the best strategy I think.
As Anthony said, it is important so you know. Say the package disappears, you can then work to get the cards cancelled or reissued. There are definitely steps to be taken. For bulk sellers, they normally payout within a day, so you know that it is delivered and then when to expect payment.
