Moviepass Schedule & Sinemia Referral Program
The Moviepass saga continues as this company just won’t give up. Last week they announced more changes to their service including a limit of 3 movies per month, but were vague about the details. Now, we know more. Despite the limit, it seems users will only be able to see certain movies on certain days.
Here is what they sent out to subscribers:
To our members:
Today we are rolling out our new subscription plan that was announced last week. We believe this new model provides great value to the MoviePass community and, equally important, ensures that we can continue to provide these benefits for you to enjoy into the future.
As we transition to the new subscription plan, we want to share more details about our service moving forward as part of our commitment to keep you fully informed. For the time being, we will be limiting the films and showtimes that are available to members each day. During this transition period, MoviePass will offer up to six films to choose from daily, including a selection of major studio first-run films and independent releases. In addition, showtime availability may be limited depending on the popularity of those films on the app that particular day.
While the films and showtimes available in the app will change daily, the schedule of available film selections will be published at least a week in advance on the MoviePass website so members can plan ahead for the films they want to see. Click here to see the current schedule. Please note that e-ticketing will continue to include ALL movies and showtimes with no restrictions. Because actual availability will change daily, we encourage our members to always check the MoviePass app before leaving for the theater.
As we celebrate the one-year anniversary of our $9.95 subscription offering, we want to thank you — our millions of members — for your loyalty and for your continued support. We’ll have some exciting updates on additional features and service offerings — that will bring greater value to you as a member — in the near future.
The Schedule
You can access the Moviepass schedule here. While some more popular movies are on there, the schedule varies by day and they reserve the right to blackout movies if they are too popular. That means if there is something you really want to see, your flexibility is mostly gone. Basically this went from a see any movie once per day to a see a limited selection of movies 3 times per month if you’re lucky service. Clearly they are trying to preserve cash, but a lot of the value is gone.
Sinemia Wants You
Moviepass competitor Sinemia enhanced their referral program today as well. Seeing an opportunity to gain market share, they are now offering $10 in Sinemia credit to their subscribers who refer a friend. Better yet, if you sign-up with someone’s referral and are a subscriber at Moviepass then you will get $10 in credit as well.
If you’re interested in Sinemia, check out our full review of the service and consider using our referral link in the review.
Conclusion
This is yet another slap in the face to Moviepass subscribers. While it can still be a good deal at $9.95 per month, with all of the uncertainty and these new changes, I can definitely see a lot of people running for the doors!

Movie Pass is a waste of time and money. I bought an annual pass at Costco that at this point is completely worthless. I just check the available movies for the nect week and few of them are offered at chain movie theaters and the small theaters that typically show independent films are not connected to Movie Pass. Save yourself from frustration and get the AMC Stubs movie subscription. Movie Pass is a hoax at this point.
You can go into Costco and get a full refund for the MP membership.
[…] Update 08/16/18: You can now get $10 when you refer a friend, your friend also gets $10 (normally it’s $5). This is available to people moving from a competing service such as MoviePass or AMC A-List. Hat tip to Forbes via MtM. […]
The schedule the notice links to is very misleading. You can not really plan ahead because only 2 of the 5 or 6 movies are actually available on any given day.
Big slap in the face. Today’s choices are BlackkKlansman or The Meg. That’s it. And it labeled the 3pm showing of Slender Man, a non-supported premium screening.
Am I understanding it correctly that if you are not interested in the premium movies, there is only a 2 movies per month plan? I wish there was a 3 or 4 per month plan. My husband and I typically see one movie per week. I guess we could each get the 2 person 2 movie per month plan and each use it every other time??
