Multiple Locations - Timeshare Offer from Marriott Vacation Club

Multiple Locations – Timeshare Offer from Marriott Vacation Club

While in Hawaii recently, I received a timeshare offer from Marriott Vacation Club that is valid at 24 different locations. It’s not common to see an offer with so many participating destinations, so I want to share the details with you. I received this exact same offer while staying at the Sheraton Princess Kaiulani in Waikiki and the Waikoloa Beach Marriott Resort & Spa. Both times, I received a flyer under my door and could ask questions at a desk near the lobby.

The Offer

Valid for stays at 24 different locations, pricing varies by where you go:

  • $199 for 4 days/3 nights in these locations (room type):

    • Singer Island, FL (guest room)
    • Doral, FL (2-bedroom villa)
    • Newport Coast, CA (2-bedroom villa)
    • Palm Desert, CA (guest room)

Key Terms

The back of the flyer had important terms and conditions
Terms on the back of the flyer

The back of the flyer had terms, and here are the most important:

  • All bookings require a $199 deposit to secure the offer
  • Remaining payment is due when you book your trip, in order to secure your dates
  • Additional balance payment required for high season arrivals in some locations (see chart)
  • Additional balance payment required for Las Vegas and Washington, D.C. bookings with an arrival date on Thursday, Friday, or Saturday during any time of the year
Marriott Vacation Club timeshare offer has higher fees for high season arrivals on the chart in this image
Chart shows high season/low season, which affects your trip cost.

Analysis

This is not the craziest pricing and doesn’t have the packed-in benefits we’ve seen with some other timeshare offers, like this one. What makes this timeshare offer from Marriott Vacation Club interesting is the sheer number of locations you can choose from.

However, the pricing on the front can be a bit misleading. You really need to check the chart of dates on the back to see what you’ll actually pay to stay at these locations. Traveling on a weekend to Las Vegas or to Colorado during the height of ski season costs more.

If you can travel to a location during the off-season (or even just travel near the very beginning or very end of ski season to those locations), you could save money. Make sure to compare the cost of booking this way to the cost of just paying outright on Marriott.com to stay at these properties during your desired dates.

You will need to attend a 90-minute presentation during your trip. Failure to do so means your credit card will automatically be charged the standard rate at the property you’re staying at.

Lastly, if you’re interested in these timeshare offers, you could contact Marriott Vacation Club (info here) and try to negotiate for some extras to be thrown in. Never accept the first offer for a timeshare deal.

Conclusion

This is an interesting offer, simply because of how many properties are included in the deal. However, it lacks standard perks we normally see with timeshare offers, like free breakfast, activities, resort credits, etc. If you’re considering this offer from Marriott Vacation Club, ask for some perks to be thrown in. And, of course, see if you can just book that property yourself for a similar or better price that doesn’t come with strings attached.
